Holy ****.

Was this expected?

Yes. The rumor had been that he was on death's door for a long time now. There have even been low key rumors of potential buyers for the Tigers, as they are outside of the organized succession plan (Gores and/or Gilbert).

RIP Mister I. Thanks for everything. Wish the Tigers could've won you one near the end.

RIP Mr. I!

As passionate of a sports team owner as you will ever find. The Wings & Tigers were incredibly lucky to have him. It is truly the end of an era.

Wow, that was sudden. He was a tremendous owner to this team, gave them the resources and infrastructure to thrive. At least he never saw them miss the playoffs in the end. Will be interesting to see what this means for the team going forward the next few years.

You could see this coming the past few years. He made me a Detroit Sport's fan. I'll be eternally grateful for what he's done for me and for our city of Detroit.

What's worse, him not seeing his new arena or the tigers not winning a World Series. I'd say tigers by far.

Holy ****.

Was this expected?

Without being the Grim Reaper

starting about 2 or 3 years ago he started putting in the transition from him to his family and others(posters can correct me on this) and then about a year ago it got sped up quickly.

The Wings have done it very professionally(like always) and so it went a bit unnoticed

RIP, Sir. You were a great man and beloved by anyone in Michigan with any common sense! :handclap:

That being said...Does this mean that his son will end up being the owner of the DRW? Yeek.
