Waived: Reto Berra on waivers

I don't mind him sticking around the rest of the year at all. If he goes, we're one injury away from Roman Will backing up.

Back on topic, Berra's been reassigned per Avs twitter.

After sleeping on it, the move does make a bit more sense to me than it did yesterday. Still think it's a waste of an asset because it lowers his value even further, but it was smart of them to waive him at the deadline when nobody would think of picking him up instead of earlier when there was a greater chance to lose him.

Incorrect.
It increased his value (although now it doesn't matter as he wasn't traded) as the other team could just pluck him to their AHL team if they wanted to.
Anyways, this allows him to play in the AHL playoffs (if the Rampage go on a huge run) so, yeah.

Ultimately, injuries did him in. Prior to getting hurt both this year and last, he played reasonably well.

The three-year extension was a bit impetuous in hindsight, but I suppose when the best goalie coach in the world tells you this kid has potential, you're allowed to take a small gamble.
