Jakub Voracek escaped potentially fatal injuries on Wednesday after crashing his blue Ferrari California in the Czech Republic.

“All good,” Voracek told CSNPhilly.com in a text. “No injuries, no alcohol.”

Photos on the Czech website sport.cz show the Ferrari’s front end is badly damaged on both sides of the vehicle.

“I spoke with Jake this morning,” Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said in a statement.

“He was involved in a car accident in the Czech Republic. Although his car did suffer damage, there were no injuries. Jake is fine.”

According to a report from Sport.cz, Flyers winger Jake Voracek was not injured when he crashed his Ferrari into a truck in his hometown of Kladno, Czech Republic at 11:30 a.m. Kladno time.

Pictures of the car on Sport.cz’s website sure make it look like Voracek, 23, was lucky to walk away from the accident with no injuries, if that is indeed the case.

According to a Google translation of the report, Voracek was speeding down the road when a truck coming from the opposite direction slowed down to turn left.

“(Voracek) failed to comply with safe distance from the vehicle ahead,” Kladno police spokeswoman Michaela Novakova told Sport.cz.

I used Google translate for the article and I believe that alcohol was not a factor (the translation is pretty bad). I think both drivers were tested for alcohol at the scene. Speed appears to be the sole factor for the accident, as Voracek was moving too fast to stop before hitting the truck.

It's crazy that he escaped injury based on those pics.

They are made to heavily crumple on the nose, if you look at the side on pic the damage pretty much stops dead at the start of the reinforced 'tub'.

Still pretty lucky, the way he hit the truck means that if he did not have such an expensive car, or one where the driver sits closer to the nose, it would probably have been worse. Especially since I presume it hit the drivers side from those pics... unless he has a right hand drive... but I doubt it.
