I'm more happy about no money coming back. Gotta improve the D a whole lot and that is going to cost a lot money. A 3rd is fine, the odds of NHL player from a 3rd round pick are low.

Might also force DJ to play Brannstrom more which could finally settle the question of how good he is.

the third is just something to put in the prospect cup boards when all these guys graduate or trade currency to move up in drafts etc..

Also a cool power move by PD on DJ.

I like this move. I did not want the Sens to re-sign Reilly because I don't think he'll sustain his level he's showed this year....and even that level came with lots of hiccups.

Good Lord are we going to be bad the rest of the season though.

We take those.

Reilly was pretty good after his horrible start. If he was going to stay for cheap, I probably would have kept him. Doubt he wanted to stay here though. Best to extract some value for him. Getting a 3rd (in 2022, which is more valuable in my opinion) is pretty good considering the market.

I'm excited to see Brannstrom move up the lineup, but also worry for Chabot's health.
