Wondering what the board would think about Reichel + 35OA to a team looking for a quicker turn around picking in the top 10-15. Thinking about teams like Pittsburg, Calgary, Washington, Vancouver, St. Louis, Detroit, Buffalo.

Thanks for the thoughts!

Except for a few guys at the top of the draft - there are varying degrees of probability that the player taken will succeed and become better than Reichel is right now - which is a top-6 winger with upside to be a top-6 center. He's already put in the development time and is ready for the NHL. Why throw that away on a player who may not reach where Reichel is right now. Doesn't make sense to me.

If Reichel can fetch 6th oa, maybe. There is almost no reason to trade Reichel. A player who is in the running to be a calder favorite. The dude had 15 points in 23 games

So we trade our 20 yr old winger who at end of year looked every bit the part of an NHL player and is our best young talent up front + a early 2nd for a lotto ticket?

No thanks

Keep Reichel and #35 can be our lotto ticket

Level of talent/NHL future for #10-15 and #35 is not that different in this draft

I haven't watched any of the Ice Hog playoff games but I noticed some posters commenting on Reichel disappearing during the playoff games.
Any comments from those who have watched the games?

For Chicago, Reichel alone is worth like a mid 1st. So adding an early second, I'd expect a top 10 pick coming back.

Depending on who's available, I'd pull the trigger.

Bob's list suggests that Reinbacher could be there at 9 or 10. I would trade Reichel+ for that pick.

Leaving the 1st round with Leonard (4th), Reinbacher (9th), and Cristall (19th) would be a dream come true.

Unless the Hawks brass doesn't like him for some reason (not like Davidson and company drafted him) or feels longterm he isn't a guy whose play will translate in the playoffs, I'd keep him. He'll likely be the guy who is on the wing flanking Bedard. :naughty:

Lemme get this straight.

The Hawks are doing the Canucks a favor taking OEL ELO or whatever his name is, and getting a first this year, more in some arguments, and thats perfectly fine.

But the price to actually get back into a high first rounder, Reichel, is too steep.

So a team wanting a solid prospect for a high first is an overpay, so that team can just use that high first and draft a solid prospect themselves.

Give me more of this. No seriously

No longer a Calder candidate…he played 34 games over two seasons…

Reichel has proofed very little, so I doubt top 10 picks would be available.

If this trade proposal had been made a few months ago - I would have been more amenable to it because he hadn't shown much at the NHL level, But then there seemed to have been a light switched on down the stretch where he looked very good and worth more than a first round pick for anything out of the top-4 players.

I've also never understood it. There's an odd obsession with picks on here.
Well it is a rebuild, so we should be picking lots, it increases our chances of hitting on players for the future.

However Reichel is a player for the future that we’ve hit on, which is why the proposal was dumb in the first place.

Yeah, but it was like this outside of the rebuild, also. People on here have always been clamoring around for the Hawks to trade proven NHL players for picks that have like a 1 in 10 chance of ever becoming the player traded for the pick or picks.
