Hi everybody and welcome to Episode 77 of Season 2 of Red Wings Rant: Where tirades and impassioned pleas about your Detroit Red Wings, finally, have a home.

Let’s Discuss our Top 10 Red Wings Prospects You Need to Know for this season! With the 2021-22 NHL season mere weeks away, there are a lot of names that are going to pop up that you need to make sure you’re aware of.

While the season rolls along in Detroit, injuries, minor league standouts, and trades are going to ensure there is plenty of roster movement. While the Red Wings don’t offer a ton of excitement in regards to the standings, they do offer excitement in the potential for their future stars.

Today we are going to highlight those future stars who are going to make the biggest impact, close to home. That means we are going to highlight those players who might make it to the NHL this year, return to Grand Rapids, or debut in Grand Rapids.

While all of our prospects have a chance to make a statement every year, these are the names we think will make that impact while playing in the mitten.

These names include:

Moritz Seider

Lucas Raymond

Joe Veleno

Chase Pearson

Albert Johansson

Jonatan Berggren and more!

We’re going to rank them in terms of excitement level and potential to be in the NHL this season. While not all of them have a strong chance, some dominoes might fall into place, giving us a chance to see how they look in the Winged Wheel!

Hi everybody and welcome to Episode 78 of Season 2 of Red Wings Rant: Where tirades and impassioned pleas about your Detroit Red Wings, finally, have a home.

Filip Hronek re-signs with the Red Wings. Filip Hronek signs a 3-year deal with a $4.4 million AAV.

Hronek, the 53rd overall pick in 2016 for Detroit, led the Red Wings in points and time on ice in the 2021 season. This signing leaves Givani Smith as the last remaining Red Wings player without a contract before the 2021-22 season begins.

We also discuss the Jesperi Kotkaniemi fiasco and we try to pick which team won the offer sheet bonanza: The Carolina Hurricanes, the Montreal Canadiens, or the Arizona Coyotes.

And finally, the Red Wings and the NHL players COULD be headed to the Olympics. How excited should we be and who could be headed to the Beijing Olympic Games from Detroit?

Hi everybody and welcome to Episode 79 of Season 2 of Red Wings Rant: Where tirades and impassioned pleas about your Detroit Red Wings, finally, have a home.

Let’s discuss which Red Wings are going to be headed to the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. We have our Detroit Red Wings ‘locks’ for the Olympics as well as a couple of guys who could earn their way in based on play.

We also take a look at Alex Nedeljkovic’s new helmet for the 2021-22 Season. The helmet was created by Bishop Designs.

And we’ve also got rosters for the upcoming Prospect Tournament in Traverse City. Who made the team and is one prospect surprisingly absent for the Red Wings?

Hi everybody and welcome to Episode 80 of Season 2 of Red Wings Rant: Where tirades and impassioned pleas about your Detroit Red Wings, finally, have a home.

The Athletic’s Shayna Goldman proposed the New York Rangers trade for Dylan Larkin. The article suggests that Rangers, who want a center, have other options besides Buffalo Sabres Jack Eichel. Larkin was one of those names.

We’ll discuss if that assessment is correct and what would you expect to see in a Dylan Larkin trade?

Hi everybody and welcome to Episode 83 of Season 2 of Red Wings Rant: Where tirades and impassioned pleas about your Detroit Red Wings, finally, have a home.

In today’s Training Camp Press Conference with Steve Yzerman, Detroit Red Wings Winger Tyler Bertuzzi was announced as the lone athlete to not be vaccinated against COVID-19. We’ll discuss this divisive topic and how we feel about Bertuzzi after making this decision.

We also have updates with the likes of Dylan Larkin, Lucas Raymond, Joe Veleno, Jonatan Berggren, Moritz Seider, and more.

The Red Wings also brought back Bobby Ryan on a pro tryout basis and we have what could be the final Elias Pettersson Offer Sheet Watch.

Hi everybody and welcome to Episode 84 of Season 2 of Red Wings Rant: Where tirades and impassioned pleas about your Detroit Red Wings, finally, have a home.

It’s the Red & White game for the Detroit Red Wings as they wrap up training camp in Traverse City. With a couple of stand-out performances by Mitchell Stephens and all 4 goaltenders, we came away with a few new notes about our prospects, but still have a long way to go.

We also have updates with the likes of Dylan Larkin, Lucas Raymond, Joe Veleno, Jonatan Berggren, Moritz Seider, and more.

We also have breaking news for Red Wings injuries:

Max Bultman reporting:

Jakub Vrana will see a specialist tomorrow

Staal's not hurt, Larkin was planned to sit out as part of progression, Berggren and McIsaac are progressing

Let’s jump into another quick Elias Pettersson Offer Sheet Watch as Pettersson was a special guest for the University of Michigan this past weekend.

Hi everybody and welcome to Episode 85 of Season 2 of Red Wings Rant: Where tirades and impassioned pleas about your Detroit Red Wings, finally, have a home.

The Red Wings will be facing off with the Chicago Blackhawks in the first preseason game of the season. Let’s dive deep into the performances from this first preseason game and figure out who stood out, who struggled, and if anyone sealed their fate for this upcoming season.

Discussion Topics:

-Alex Cotton looking like dog shit

-Officiating was Terrible

-The Red Wings Power Play looked better than last year

-Bobby Ryan (8.05 points per 60) is earning a job somewhere. Ryan looks great with Goals and assists for the Red Wings against the Blackhawks.

-Adam Erne also looking like he’s bringing over his production from last season to this year (6.19 Points per 60, 2 assists) back to the Detroit Red Wings

-Calvin Pickard looked great not allowing a goal against the Chicago Blackhawks(2.47GSAx), Greiss and Lankinen were both negative.

In the first preseason game of the season, all eyes will be on Lucas Raymond and Moritz Seider. While Moritz Seider appears to be a lock for a role, most want to see just how good he really is. For Lucas Raymond, he has proved he can stand out with his performance in the prospect tournament and the Red and White game, but can he translate that to his game when facing the Blackhawks.

Fans will also be looking to see which defensemen will be winning out the bottom-pairing role and who will be carried into the season as backups. Steve Yzerman already revealed he’ll be going into the season with 8 defensemen, so who will it be? Wyatt Newpower, Gustav Lindstrom, Jordan Oesterle? And will one of those gentlemen steal a spot from Troy Stecher or Marc Staal?

Hi everybody and welcome to Season 3 of Red Wings Rant: Where tirades and impassioned pleas about your Detroit Red Wings, finally, have a home.

The Detroit Red Wings got some outstanding play from their two stars, Lucas Raymond and Dylan Larkin during this weekend’s preseason matchups.

Lucas Raymond, of course, was the Red Wings 1st Round Pick, 4th overall, in the 2020 NHL Draft. Raymond is making his North American Pro Debut this season and while many anticipated a start in Grand Rapids, he certainly is making the decision difficult for the Red Wings, now that he has posted 4 points in 2 games.

Dylan Larkin, who was returning to the ice for the first time since his injury in the 2021 shortened season. While Raymond is exciting to watch, it was great to see Larkin look like he’d never missed a game while posting 2 goals and an assist against the Blue Jackets.

The Red Wings also played a stinker of a game Sunday Afternoon in Pittsburgh against the Penguins. The Red Wings lost 5-1 and did not make it look close. The Red Wings were severely out-chanced and the Red WIngs new goalie, Alex Nedeljkovic, who was brought in for a 3rd round pick, struggled too.

In major news for the Wings, Jakub Vrana is now ruled OUT for AT LEAST 4 months. Also, Tyler Bertuzzi is now being ruled out for another Red Wings preseason game. Is he going to remain with the Franchise for much longer?

Hi everybody and welcome to Episode 172, Season 3 of Red Wings Rant: Where tirades and impassioned pleas about your Detroit Red Wings, finally, have a home.

Lucas Raymond is ready for the NHL and to be on the Detroit Red Wings roster this season and Max Bultman is here to discuss why!

Despite a small sample size, Raymond has gone far beyond the scope of point production and looks to be able to provide a strong, responsible, jaw-dropping game to the ice at Little Caesars’ arena. While there is still time for Lucas to drop off, there are almost zero signs suggesting that he would.

We also discuss the defensive pairings, Danny Dekeyser playing well, Joe Veleno missing the cut, and more!

And don’t forget, we’re making the big announcement of the winner of the TWO tickets to the Detroit Red Wings game, on October 21st!

Then, to prep for the Regular Season, let’s discuss what our forward lines and defensive pairs will look like and how that will affect our potential in the standings.

We’ll finish the discussion with our two Top 5 Hot Takes for the upcoming season. Of course, we decided to turn it into a game to see who's hot takes were hottest!

Hi everybody and welcome to Episode 174, Season 3 of Red Wings Rant: Where tirades and impassioned pleas about your Detroit Red Wings, finally, have a home.

Today we preview the Detroit Red Wings 2021-22 home opener against the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Saturday matchup with the Vancouver Canucks.

The Detroit Red Wings have also solidified their forward lines, defensive pairs, and power plays and we’ll take a quick look to see where Lucas Raymond, Moritz Seider, and the rest of the Red Wings Roster will be lining up.

The Tampa Bay Lightning will be making their way to Detroit and Little Caesars Arena for their second game of the season. They are currently 0-1-0 after losing to the Pittsburgh Penguins, 6-2. With the Penguins currently playing with stars Sydney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, the final score was especially surprising, for the back-to-back defending Stanley Cup Champions, Lightning.

The Lightning may be looking to redeem themselves after being embarrassed at home during their banner raising, but we’ll also ask the question if the Lightning could be running out of gas.

The Red Wings’ second game of the season, against the Vancouver Canucks, will feature Elias Pettersson, Quinn Hughes, and Thatcher Demko. The Canucks struggled last season, finishing 7th place in the North with a .446 points percentage (for comparison sake, the Red Wings had .429 points percentage).

The Canucks will be playing their second game in two nights and their 3rd in 4 nights. With Pettersson and Hughes having only played 2 preseason games, will the loaded front of the schedule affect their play, and can the Wings take advantage?

Hi everybody and welcome to Episode 175, Season 3 of Red Wings Rant: Where tirades and impassioned pleas about your Detroit Red Wings, finally, have a home.

Today we recap the Detroit Red Wings 2021-22 home opener against the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Saturday matchup with the Vancouver Canucks.

The Detroit Red Wings got out to a huge 6-3 lead against the Tampa Bay Lightning, but talent, circumstance, and being short-handed (in more ways than one) led to a tremendous comeback and win for the defending Stanley Cup Champs.

Tyler Bertuzzi got off to an extremely hot start with 4 goals that rocked the Little Caesars Arena crowd and threw them into a frenzy. Moritz Seider also walked away with 2A in his first game and finished with a solid 20 minutes of ice time.

We’ll also discuss the roller coaster of a game for Alex Nedeljkovic, the Marc Staal mistakes, and Gustav Lindstrom clearly earning his role over Troy Stecher and Jordan Oesterle.

Finally, we’ll chat live about the Red Wings game against the Vancouver Canucks and hopefully celebrate a win.

Hi everybody and welcome to Episode 176, Season 3 of Red Wings Rant: Where tirades and impassioned pleas about your Detroit Red Wings, finally, have a home.

Today we recap the Detroit Red Wings’ 2nd win of the 2021-22 season, against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Detroit Red Wings beat the Columbus Blue Jackets thanks to a great team performance, which led the Red Wings to do something they’ve never done before. The highest xGF performance in recorded history.

The Detroit Red Wings young rookie prospect, Lucas Raymond, scored his first goal. Lucas Raymond is now tied for 1st in the NHL for rookie points along with fellow Red Wings defenseman, Moritz Seider.

While the Red Wings continue to find success, Dylan Larkin and Tyler Bertuzzi have stood out, but it’s Gustav Lindstrom, who celebrates a birthday today, who is at the top of the leaderboards in some of the most important advanced analytics tracked by evolving hockey. We’ll discuss.

We also take a look at the Red WIngs next three games:

Red Wings vs Calgary Flames on 10/21/21

Red Wings at Montreal Canadiens on 10/23/21

Red Wings at Chicago Blackhawks on 10/24/21

Hi everybody and welcome to Episode 177, Season 3 of Red Wings Rant: Where tirades and impassioned pleas about your Detroit Red Wings, finally, have a home.

Today we recap the Detroit Red Wings’ roller coaster weekend of hockey. The Red Wings lose an ugly one to the Montreal Canadiens 6-1. Dylan Larkin scored the lone goal on the power play early, but the Canadiens would score 6 straight.

The Red Wings played the Blackhawks the next night and were able to put some more scoring on the board. Both Lucas Raymond (2 goal) and Tyler Bertuzzi (1 goal) continued the scoring for Detroit’s first line. The Red Wings also got some secondary scoring from Carter Rowney and Vladislav Namestnikov. We’ll discuss how this one went down (typing this as of the second period).

Hi everybody and welcome to Episode 181, Season 3 of Red Wings Rant: Where tirades and impassioned pleas about your Detroit Red Wings, finally, have a home.

The Red Wings lost again in Montreal. The Red Wings were shutout 3-0 against the Canadiens while without Dylan Larkin and Tyler Bertuzzi.

Dylan Larkin still hasn’t practiced after missing a game for personal reasons. The Wings now look to this upcoming weekend with 3 games in 4 nights and hope for the return of their star center and Captain.

The Red Wings, while dealing with major injuries, have put two drastically different teams on the ice this season. How worried should Wings fans be? Are we more of the team that beat the Washington Capitals and lost teeth in the Florida Panthers skirmish? Or are we more the team that has lost 2 straight games to the lowly Montreal Canadiens?

The Red Wings celebrated two minor monthly awards this week. Moritz Seider was named the October Rookie of the Month. Sebastian Cossa. The Red Wings’ first-round pick this season was just named October’s Goalie of the month for the WHL.

Hi everybody and welcome to Episode 183, Season 3 of Red Wings Rant: Where tirades and impassioned pleas about your Detroit Red Wings, finally, have a home.

The Red Wings are on a three-game win streak!

After coming back and winning in OT against the Buffalo Sabres, the Red Wings turned in a dominating win against the Golden Knights and a huge surprise win against the Edmonton Oilers.

Along this ride, we got Moritz Seider’s first goal, the emergence of Nedeljkovic, Vladislav Namestnikov’s increase in goal scoring, and the return of our beloved Captain.

We also discuss the potential for trading to upgrade the Red Wings now and later. Could Yzerman trade for Sam Girard? And Will the Red Wings trade away talent for more draft picks?

Hi everybody and welcome to Episode 184, Season 3 of Red Wings Rant: Where tirades and impassioned pleas about your Detroit Red Wings, finally, have a home.

The Detroit Red Wings have won 4 of 5 after an up and down game against the Montreal Canadiens. The Red Wings took down the Canadiens in OT have a sharp angle shot from Captain Dylan Larkin.

After coming back and winning in OT against the Buffalo Sabres, the Red Wings turned in a dominating win against the Golden Knights and a huge surprise win against the Edmonton Oilers. The Red Wings did go down to the Washington Capitals, 2-0.

The Red Wings have been thought to be overperforming, but even in certain areas where we are doing well, there are matching areas where the Red Wings are looking for even better luck. Some names we’d like to see improvements to help the winning streak continue, so we’ll pick apart a couple of players who are due to break out, including Filip Zadina, Adam Erne, and Sam Gagner.

The Red Wings have a 4 game road trip coming up.

On the docket: Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday and the Dallas Stars on Tuesday.

Hi everybody and welcome to Episode 185, Season 3 of Red Wings Rant: Where tirades and impassioned pleas about your Detroit Red Wings, finally, have a home.

The Detroit Red Wings are starting to slide after losing two straight. A 3rd-period implosion against the Columbus Blue Jackets, 5-3, followed by a 5-2 loss to the middling Dallas Stars.

In both games, the likes of Dylan Larkin, Tyler Bertuzzi, and Lucas Raymond weren’t enough to find a victory. The secondary scoring, while seemingly sprinkled in, has not been at the same levels as their opponents.

Dylan Larkin was removed from the Dallas Stars game due to COVID. Frank Seravalli reported he was pulled from the game after a positive COVID test result was brought to the Red Wings’ attention. We’ll go over how the COVID protocol works and if we’ll see Larkin this week.

Moritz Seider’s big hit in Dallas was enough to keep fans’ spirits up. And both Moritz Seider and Lucas Raymond continue to mount their lead in the rookie scoring race. The Red Wings 2019 Draft Pick, Filip Zadina also chipped in his first goal in 9 games.

Hi everybody and welcome to Episode 186, Season 3 of Red Wings Rant: Where tirades and impassioned pleas about your Detroit Red Wings, finally, have a home.

The Detroit Red Wings are starting to slide after losing four straight. A 3rd-period implosion against the Columbus Blue Jackets, 5-3, followed by a 5-2 loss to the middling Dallas Stars. Then a 5-2 drubbing in Vegas. And another blown 3rd period lead to the lowly Arizona Coyotes.

In all 4 games, the likes of Dylan Larkin, Tyler Bertuzzi, and Lucas Raymond weren’t enough to find a victory. The secondary scoring, while seemingly sprinkled in, has not been at the same levels as their opponents.

Filip Zadina is clearly getting frustrated, so it’s time to make a new 2nd line. Who should be playing on the 2nd line with Filip Zadina?
