Optimally he would replace Perron this year. A bottom six of Berggren-Copp-Fabbri and Sprong-Rasmussen-Fischer would be nice.

How does he compare to a guy like Emil Bemstrom in Columbus? They seem to have somewhat similar numbers across different levels (SHL, AHL, NHL) with Bemstrom being a year older.

Why would we trade a young player who dominated the shl and puts up stats in the ahl,had 15 goals as a rookie and has 3 pts in 3 games thus far. He's got big upside
Its looking like niederbach and hanas will be busts. Buchelnikov is too soon to tell and might never come. Outside kasper and danielson our only legit shot at forward help for the future is soderblom,hopefully lombardi but it's way too soon to tell. Oh and I forgot mazur but hes likely a bottom 6 guy. Point is we have alot of questionmark's at forward and shouldnt move berggren.
Oh and we need seider to start getting in draisaitl's ear about being a redwing when hes a free agent after next season. I wouldnt want to make a deal in the summer to get him early and pay a hefty price. Doubt we'd get another debrincat scenario where we move nothing for his services

aston-reese was sent down yesterday or early today in the morning. Berg was sent down llike an hour ago or so. Czarnick is still up because we don't need the center depth with larkin still out and compher coming in (potentially)
his offense seemed good, but when you couple that with his defensive play, it makes sense.

The players like Hanas, will be just fine. These players have to develop. It’s very rare to see this many 22 and under players on an AHL roster, playing every night. There’s a few 20 year olds. Hanas is a far superior prospect in Detroit’s eyes.
Berggren is NOT Yzerman’s type of forward, who slashes, plays in traffic, and creates space. So it’s safe to say, he’s not going to be around for years. Kostin frankly, makes a bigger difference shift to shift right now. So they’d much rather Berggren play an important role in GR.
Just FYI as well… This up and down thing with Berggren can’t go on much longer. He only has about 5-6 NHL Games left, before he has to start clearing waivers. So we will likely see him come up for good, or they’ll start calling Soderblom or Mazur up instead of Berggren. At least this year. I think it’s a pretty good bet, Berggren isn’t Detroit property by the deadline though..
How do you know hanas will be fine? Sounds like wishful thinking , hes going to be 22 next month and his stats are down from last season. No one knows what will happen with him but I'm not expecting anything at this point
Not yzerman's type? Well outside the 1st rounders theres not much to get excited about since he got here. Soderblom and mazur are the only forwards with a shot to make the lineup in 5 drafts past round 1 and others are all question marks and busts imo
People can shit on berggren but the guy keeps posting stats everywhere he goes and last I checked you need to get on the scoreboard to win. Yzerman also said if you perform he'll make room for you on the team but we know that's bs.
He deserves to be on the team like edvinsson does but we all know as soon as he signed all these players no matter what he said no one was going to make the team. The likes of perron,sprong arent going to be resigned, a maata should be moved for edvinsson
Cant keep everyone down forever and cant expect to add these guys fulltime with barely any nhl experience and then bring in another rookie or 2 as well and expect to win
Well if they deal berggren by the deadline would be a mistake imo and might come back to haunt yzerman. Hes got the tools to be a 45-60pt guy and what are we going to get for him now?5 A 3rd? 2nd if were lucky?meh prospect or player? No thx

Did you watch him play in the preseason? Cross Hanas is one of the Wings least concerns.
Everyone knew GR would struggle, at least the first half of this season. They just have too many kids playing important roles. Did you see their lineup tonight? Great result too. No AHL team has this type of a lineup. Luff and Czarnik were to be the vets who helped bring the kids around. Not guys like Shine. That team has been better and better every week now, because these kids are getting better and better.
You can’t just hand spots to young players in the NHL. They have to take those spots. You also don’t rebuild a team from scratch like Buffalo and Ottawa, playing so many young kids in the NHL too soon. You end up with 20 year rebuilds because you ruin kid’s development.
They’ve done it right with the lottery hands they were dealt. Collect as many quality prospects as possible, start developing them, and when you think your getting close to them playing in the NHL, add quality vets they can play with. Then when they grab a spot, they’ll be ready to contribute.
This team is set up for a nice 10-12 year run.
Berggren isn’t made to be playing a checking line role. That’s why he’s not playing in the NHL. He can’t play up and down the lineup like most players Yzerman signs, drafts and trades for either. He’s not a slasher, who plays in traffic.
You can go back to his Tampa days too. If you look at the players he drafts, Hanas, Mazur, Savage, Lombardi, Cirelli, Point, etc, etc, they all have that quality. Obviously you also need high end scoring players like a Debrincat and a Kane. So you’ll give a little to get a lot with those type of players.
Berggren just isn’t going to be that player in Detroit. I like him too, but he doesn’t fit the mold. Right now, Fischer and Kostin play an important role, he just can’t play. With Fabbri coming back this good too, didn’t help Berggren grab a spot.
That’s why they likely will move him. As for the other kids, this isn’t the NBA and NHL, kids have to develop. Let them. One by one, they’ll start grabbing spots. Mazur is probably the closest to taking a full-time spot up front, from the kids in GR. Their young dmen have been great down there. Much better than expected, as a group. Especially with the injuries.
The Wings have a lot to look forward to. Especially on the blue line. Unfortunately Berggren doesn’t look like he’ll be part of it. Mostly because he doesn’t fit the mold. He’s just not going to beat out players like Fabbri, Veleno, and Rasmussen right now. All of those players are much better NHL players at this point. That’s who he needs to be better than. Not Kostin and Fischer. He can’t play that role.
Just to add, I don’t think they’ll just give him away either. He has value. Likely he’ll be included in a deal for a player to help the NHL team. If he’s asking for a trade, that could change things. We’ll see what the return is. I just wouldn’t get my hopes up that he’s gonna be able to break into that Top 9 right now. It’ll take injuries. Season ending type injuries.

Berggren should play in a top 6 role. That's where you get the most out of him. And to my knowledge he has never had a real chance to play in the top 6 in Detroit.

Montreal has tons of room on the top-6 and were rumored to be interested, I just can't figure out a logical return, since Montreal's surplus assets are on D and in net - neither appearing to be a need for Detroit.

Y linen is 6 foot and 200 lbs. if he had more than 7-8 minutes a night he’d produce more. His points per 60 min played is really high. But as long as guys like Gallagher and Anderson get top six minutes , he can’t show his true potential

Yes I been watching games and most of the kids are in bottom 6 roles. I'm hopeful someone like lombardi pans out as some steal draft pick but again not guaranteed. We didnt have a young player come out and explode and have a nice season as a rookie like kuluch did bourque last year had 47 pts and now is at the top of the scoring race.
We dont have those guys. Berggren is capable of putting up numbers and is young. Dealing him at this point with so many question marks on guys is nonsensical
It's all nice and dandy to back check and all that but again you need to score. Yay were scoring after 25 games big shit. Theres better odds we go back down than keep up this scoring pace. Berggren is way more talented offensively than a veleno,sprong etc... he needs to be on this team. I'm not saying he'll be a career redwing with all the prospects and draisaitl coming soon(ya that's right lol) but he should be playing here for a few years and at the least boost his trade value cause hes a 50+ guy in my book with an opportunity

Mazur has top-6 potential, nearly a PPG guy in NCAA. In the U20 Worlds 5 goals and 7 points in 5 games. First 6 AHL games last season, 6 points. Had a injury at the start of the season but seems to be warming up, scored a goal yesterday. Good at forechecking, excelent at board battles and nice scoring touch. Ideal guy to pull the piano in the top-6.

How does that make sense for the Rangers? We have plenty of offensive depth and very little defensive depth. We shouldn't be trading Jones for a forward.

I have high hopes for Mazur as a middle-six guy. He looks like a guy a cup contending team would have on the third line, who can spot duty in the top-six and elevate his game for a while.
I Hope so but not expecting it. We got larkin raymond debrincat in the top 6 for at least 3 years . I'm expecting a big free agent signing soon(draisaitl) that's 4 . Leaves 2 spots for the likes of compher danielson kasper soderblom mazur etc...
Lord knows we need some of our prospects to not just pan out but be big players. Were long due and we wont win giving too much money and term to future copp's and compher's in free agency

Was at the Griffins game last night. He needs to be in the NHL. The Griffins aren't winning enough games to justify him not being with the Wings. Either put him on the team or add him as a part of a big package and get something good.
