Posted this on the nostalgia thread in History of Hockey, and then thought some people here might remember. To be clear, I do not own this shirt, but I did find this pic online doing some searching.
Is that Gilbert Delorme and Lee Norwood?!

Man does that bring back memories. The days just coming out of the Dead Wings era.

Sure is...1987! In '85-'86 they only won 17 games and were probably worse than last year's team, which is really hard to believe lol. In '86-'87 they were still under .500 (34-36-10), but they were really hard to play against. They were fun to watch, and it was the start of something very beautiful.

I went to an antique mall yesterday. One of the booths I frequent sells hockey cards. Always dig through and pick out any '84-'85 OPC & Wings singles. There is also a box of pocket schedules. As luck would have it there was a nice selection of Detroit schedules. Walked away with '88-'89 Pistons, '88 Tigers, '89 Tigers and '88-'89 & '90-'91 Wings. Amazing to see how the economics of sports changes. In '88-'89 a seat on the glass would only set you back $23. Calculating for inflation still just over $50.

We need to keep this thread going. It’s the only one with positive thoughts.

When I was just a wee Stony, my Dad loved to talk to me about the glory days of the Wings. One of his stories was about about the time Gordie Howe took apart who was then the league's toughest guy, Lou Fontinato of the Rangers. Several years later I was in college, and I went to the library and pulled everything I could find about that fight. This was just before the internet, so everything was a hard copy. LOOK magazine (a national publication) did an article on it, such was the notoriety of the tussle. I brought it all home to my Dad the following weekend and gave it to him. After looking at it for a while, he started to get a bit misty and then gave me a hug lol. I can't find the original LOOK article, but I did find some other stuff.

howe and fontinato, 1959: just like someone chopping wood

Fontinato after the fight. It's no wonder Gordie didn't get challenged a whole lot.
