I mean they can, they’re the NFL, and we know they went into the season expecting this to disappear or whatever excuse Darren Rovell has for still thinking he was right.

But they were only on the covid list as close contacts. That’s different than actually testing positive.
Which is still compromising the integrity of the game by keeping healthy players out of a game that could have been easily pushed back.

But as you've said, we knew it would eventually be a gong show from how it was handled to begin with. The other 3 main leagues were much better in just about every conceivable way.

NFL games are scheduled well in advance. So when the nfl sets up prime time games for Monday and Thursday they can’t afford to have these games postponed. Very different to push a Sunday game back a bit.

If you are nbc and given what you paid for your Tv package you were expecting a game for that 4 hour window.

now you don’t get one.

Lots of pressure to get these stand alone games played on time.

Nhl and nba did bubbles. MLB had issues early but managed to get it under control. But we are in flu season so different story now.

see how the nhl and nba handle their upcoming season.

So they postponed this game and moved it to Sunday but forced the Niners to play with their PS vs the Packers.

They need to amend the cba and allow for games/weeks to be pushed. That would allow the networks to get their money and the players don't have to be exposed due to greed.

More positive tests from the Ravens today. Safe to say they may not play at all this week.

They’re cowards to the networks who don’t want games forfeited and lose ad revenue.

But the Ravens have basically already admitted fault with their conditioning coach or whoever. Steelers should definitely be pushing for a forfeit, especially since their bye week got screwed.

The Steelers already lost their damn off week due to another team not following restrictions. Forfeit or play with what you have. I'm f***ing sick of this no plan for contingency coupled with the complete inconsistency with the way some teams have had to 'deal with it' and other teams are getting leniency.

There needed to be extra bye-weeks built into things from the start of the season, but that would be far too proactive for a group of shitty billionaires and/or their god-king commissioner.

And the Browns have another player test positive today as well. The Browns will be going into Sunday's game having no real practices.

NFL has agreed not to open the season on labour Day weekend, as they leave that for NCAA kickoff.

So, adding another bye week (under normal situations), the NFL would likely not want the Super Bowl to be played on Feb 14. So, they'd have to check the calendar on that to see where it would land. If they can avoid that day, then adding the bye week should be fine moving forward.

I've always felt that the extra bye week would make sense to give the 2 teams who have to play Thursday their bye the prior week. So, if you are to start week 8 with the TNF game, then week 7 is a bye week for you.

Feels as if Pitt got screwed having 2 games postponed. Maybe instead of forfeited a draft pick, those picks are instead given to Pitt to compensate them for the postponement.

League's explanation of why SF/GB was played is pure bunk, especially when 2 packers who played in that game tested positive RIGHT AFTER THE GAME.

Norms are out the window this winter. They can push games back to Easter if need be.

I agree this is different since Baltimore seems to have f***ed up while GB and SF just had some inevitable cases. I don't blame Pittsburgh for feeling slighted.

RG3 time?! Considering they play in a week as well, he'll get 2 starts it appears.

If they even play although I'd probably make the Ravens play out of spite since it does seem like they were careless, and thankfully there doesn't seem to be an instance yet of it being transmitted in-game, even when Mahomes and Gilmore bro-hugged just before the latter tested positive.
