We're losing Barrie for nothing in the offseason and either missing the playoffs, or getting destroyed in the first round.

Absolute failure.
I'd say it's now very likely they re-sign Barrie this summer.

A+

People think making some trade for a guy is going to magically fix everything?

How many years, how many games do you have to watch to realize that we could add prime Lidstrom to this roster, and nothing would change.

Its the mindset. The Buy-in. The mentality. The mental toughness. Until that changes, it litetally DOES NOT matter who you add, nothing will change.

There's enough talent on this roster to win a cup this year. I don't care what anyone says. There is. But they're mentally weak, fragile, and they don't seem to give a single shit.

Until the mindset changes, all trades are meaningless. Dubas realized that, acted accordingly.

How you know you’re a Dubas fanboy. You actually gave him a good grade. Come on.

Our war room needed to conclude if this group as constructed is Stanley Cup calibre this year. Unless the answer was yes, it is inexcusable to not trade an asset like Barrie. Some teams got nice returns for lesser D man. Dubas has traded away picks, the cupboard will be pretty bare soon enough, to not reload this season is bush league. Again, are we a cup contender? Act accordingly for the betterment of the franchise.

Didn't make us better
Didn't make us worse and gain assets

So the same team that has won 5 games in regulation over the last 20 is standing pat and did basically nothing, what's the saying about doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results?

Dubas is very much like the team, just an empty shell that looks pretty and says the right thing but is just an empty void of nothingness

Would have liked a steal of a deal somewhere but seeing no panic moves because of the circus story over the Canes dominating the Leafs in the third supposedly due to a Zamboni driver.

Let's see what these boys have and if Andersen plays halfway competent its going to be a fun ride IMO....and please get better Morgan.

B+ if today only.

For not succumbing to fan and media pressure and making a deal you will just regret in a year or 2.

Don't do a deal just for the sake of it. I'm sure there were plenty available but if it doesn't help the team don't do it. Would you trade KK for 20 games of a mid pair D?

Do we call the Jack Campbell Kyle Clifford a deadline deal? I do, so I gave an A

If you have to be convinced you're going to win the Stanley Cup in order to not sell off at the deadline, then you're never going to get anywhere close to winning a cup.

Tell me how Stanley Cup calibre you thought St. Louis was in mid-February last year.

If C is average, then somewhere in there. Maybe a B. I did not like the Clifford part of the trade and depending on what the offers were for Barrie, not trading him sucks, but he has given this team a good opportunity to win with his moves for this year...

His team just needs to start returning the favour, and they have yet to do that.

I think the Leafs still make the playoffs. I'm not intimidated by Haula or Wallmark at all. Not really intimidated by Kase or Ritchie, nor Coleman, Goodrow and Bogosian either. That, and the rest of their playoff success, comes down to every player in the lineup collectively deciding that they want to win, because if actually play like they do, then they can beat any team in this league.

Want to say F because not moving Barrie for at least an asset that can be used in the off-season is inexcusable.

They will need to acquire 2 top 4 Dmen in the off-season with what assets? You have 2020 2nd round pick, 2021 1st and 2nd round picks. If getting a 2nd rounder for Barrie gives you more currency for the off-season.

So we traded Kadri for Kerfoot, awesome. Why did we not flip Barrie ? This team is not a contender, even if we made playoffs we're getting slapped out of the first round. At least get something for your pending UFA.

Wow, we’re St Louis. You can spin everything to the positive if that’s your game I suppose.

Last year I felt we had a legit chance to make a run, so your first excuse doesn’t hold any water with me.

Nick Ritchie was traded for Danton Heinen.

That's all it took?

Why wasn't Dubas into this kind of deal?

Holy F---!!!

Guess who Marner will be lining up to play against the next few years . . .

What a guy.

What a team.

Just fire these clowns.

:baghead:

If you want Nick Richie so bad why not trade William Nylander for him..... Oh wait

When Rielly comes back we gotta move Dermy with him on the right side. It is our only chance now. Keep Holl and Muzzy. Play Sandin with Barrie on 3rd pair with really reduced minuted in the offensive zone only. Play Ceci with Sandin on defensive zone starts. Go with 7 d and figure it out shift by shift. Gotta run Barrie on PP now and use him for only value he brings to table. I still think it is not nearly enough against any tough team in playoffs.

Basically it will be Muzzy, Rielly and Holl going almost 30 minutes per night. Everyone else just fits in where we can. with Barrie as PP specialist only.
