Proposal: Rantanen for Draisaitl

Colorado would get their badly needed second line center and Edmonton would get the deadliest duo Mcdavid-Rantanen since Lemieux-Jagr. Edmonton would still have Nugent-Hopkins as their 2C and if Rantanen signs next summer with let's say 11mil/year Colorado would have more cap space with the Draisaitl contract in their books to sign another winger Tarasenko/Stone etc.

First of all, no. Colorado wouldn't touch this.

Second, how would Oilers survive with 2 players taking 23+ million of the yearly budget? Rantanen has to be extended and in todays cap world he might be looking at 11-13 million. McD already is over 10.

Not really. Rantanen has more points than MacKinnon. He's the best player on the Avs this year.

Rantanen is close to being the Avs best player already. Because of contracts, however, MacKinnon is their most valuable player. A slight difference..

Rants scoring will explode even higher than with Mackinnon. Oilers are struggling with the Cap with Drais @ $8M. Any higher amount would be more problematic.

Neither team does this lol. Avs can get a 2c without giving up their first line winger / top point getter in the league.

Leon is a good insurance policy if either Mcdavid or Nuge go down and he has awesome chemistry with Connor already. Not to mention we couldn’t afford Rantanen’s extension without crippling our already thin team.

15th in league scoring on pace for 42 goals and 97 points and can play C/W without skipping a beat. Yea his shine is definitely fading.
