Stat line sucks for sure this game for him. He looked good at times, but this was a rough one.

Ump didnt help but agreed. Altho I do like the fact he was able to bounce back and get out of those innings with Ks...not just lucky flyouts. Thats saying alot.

Mercer extended this inning, no idea why we cant try Newman at times.

Didn't know much about Archer before the trade, but is it wrong to have expected more from him?? I think the Pirates in the end will have given up a lot to get him.

We shouldnt lose this now, with our pen being one of the best and theirs one of the worst. Our bats cant take the rest of the night off tho like they sometimes do when scoring alot early.

We will get more from him. First game. Got squeezed throughout. He should have had his 7th k there to start the inning instead of 4th walk. Who knows what happens after that. Altho Mercer would have had to been removed from game. 1 error that got the 2nd guy on. And should have had the DP. Game should be 6-3 at worst. Now we have to sweat it out.

Santana has been great...left him in too long. Let someone else take out Fowler. He got his last hit off Archer when he was done. Now gets to face Santana at 30 pitches. Someone else would have sat him down quick.

Lucky to get out of that one. Bats have to know we need another run or two now. Weve only had one clean inning.

Have to win this game...for many reasons . One of them being we arent getting(and wont get) any help out of town with Mets losing to Braves(lost 4 in a row now since going 2-2 against us...that series hurt). Phillies winning again, getting to face the Marlins( both them and Mets will continue to give those two wins).

To be fair, the ump is doing this with both teams. He's calling a stingy strike zone for both teams, so at least it's consistent.

With a competent defense and an ump with a more generous strike zone, Archer would have only given up 2 runs through 5 innings.

You know Carpenter is getting on to start the 9th...we desperately need a run here. And the cards pen is bad so no excuse. We did score 6 and that should have been enough. But the blame still goes to them if we lose. Game still favors us with them having one guy left on the bench. A much worse bullpen. But they have all the momentum.
