Horrible management by Hurdle this inning. It should have been Hughes' inning from the get-go.

Then when he does get AJ he brings in Bastardo for lord knows what reason. And his third pitcher of the inning is finally the right choice.

We have squandered a 3 and 4 run lead. SR's frustration at 3rd on that grounder shows they are not handling this type of pressure well at the moment.

Is it safe to say that the Pirates main strengths of the season - starting pitching and bull pen (what the hell is that word, anyway?) - have been deteriorating markedly in recent games?
Even if the epic St.Louis come back wins, 5 runs were allowed in both games, and the Brewers feasted. Now, 7 runs and counting.

Cause for concern? More so as AJ had a historically good first half performance and has to be likely to fall back to earth rather than sustaining it.

Pirates don't pitch their setup man or closer more than 1 inning. It's part of their philosophy, they really wanna limit guys' innings so they don't fall off at the end of the year.
