Well, that is good news of a sort. There has been a tendency to try to force square pegs in to round holes with team. Has Hörnqvist ever played LW? Probably not a good idea to try to force a guy to play in a new position at this point in his career.

To me, the worry shouldn't be Hornqvist on the LW, but Kessel.

I actually think he could be pretty awesome on the LW, since he doesn't give a **** about defense anyhow. But I don't think they'll do that. That doesn't seem to be Johnston's style.

If we bury Lovejoy in the minors won't most his cap go with it?

We won't do that, so it doesn't matter. I'd love to be wrong though.

I do think he'd get picked up if we tried to put him through waivers. He's not as terrible as people here make him seem.

You guys are missing the main piece in this deal.

Tyler Biggs.

He will tear it up in the NHL as he did last season in the AHL.

Dream scenario:

Perron - Crosby - Hornqvist
Plotkinov - Malkin - Kessel
Dupuis - Sutter - Bennett
Farnham - Brodziak/Cullen - Sundqvist
Whoever

Maatta - Letang
Pouliot - Lovejoy
Dumoulin - Cole

Scuderi

then move Sutter for some D help at the deadline and slot Sundqvist or Brodziak into the 3rd line spot.

Were currently looking at

Maatta - Letang
Cole - Lovejoy
Scuderi - Pouliot
Dumoulin

That has to change.

We really don't want Pouliot or Dumoulin sitting. The only way I think adding someone makes sense long term is if we move both Scuds and Lovejoy. I'd love to see it happen, but I'll be shocked if it does.

I think we should kick the tires with Lapierre as he's probably the best face-off guy left. Brodziak is also a career 49%, which is actually good considering what's left out there (and what we have on our team), but he doesn't appear to have had a 50% winning percentage or better in some time. Maybe if we tell him he's going to be the 4th line center he can start doing wrist curls and farmers carries early this summer.

I guess whichever of the two is cheaper.

I disagree. I think it's the one whipping boy the masses got right.

Lovejoy was a horrible player his first time here
Played with Fowler and made him look capable
Is a horrible player again

He is just bad at hockey.

I've seen a couple of people mention how the Pens won't go far with this young defense.

Can anyone tell me how it has worked out with a veteran laden defense the last six years?

I just woke up from a 6 year nap... how many cups did these gnarled vets bring?

I'm anxious to know.. 2? 3?

Maybe we can sign Sutter for less than anisimov signed for. I would sign up for Sutter at 3.7M. At the least I'd try and lock up Perron before he explodes with our top 6 this year.
