You should add Games Played. The Isles are below Philly by 9 pts, but Philly has a 2 "games in hand" edge as well. That's huge.

The Isles have time but need to crank it up for the remainder of the season. Good to see NY and NJ lose. Disappointing that Nelson is struggling and Regin still has a spot on this team.

Can you add where they are in the standings? That's the Flyers with the third spot right?

How is Nelson struggling?

it's such a far cry, but if they can somehow make it into the olympic break around five points back, then go on a similar end-of-the-year tear like last season, maybe?

still a lot of hockey left, blahblah.

Going strictly on W's and L's (not including OT or SO) if the Isles played the remainder of the season at 10 games over .500 25-15 (possible but highly unlikely) they finish with 85 pts. and the Flyers played at .500 21-21, they finish with 86 pts. the Isles still don't catch them.

Isles making the playoffs will be a very tough chore.

Just think of the position this team could be in if they didn't blow 6 (if I recall correctly) 3rd period leads. If they won half of those, we'd be looking at a much more favorable climb being 3 points out.

I still think the 9 is possible, but we need Philly to collapse. I don't think the Rangers are going to make the playoffs this season or New Jersey.

We had a great thread at the end of last year with the playoff push...so thanks for starting this one up! Have to imagine being 5/6 back come the Olympic Break will decide if the Isles are still in this thing.

Well rangers and devils both lost last night, that helps us, hopefully we can win this division game tonight and really get this thing back on track

You should also include Washington, it's not like they're so far ahead in 2nd place. A win by Philly and a Washington loss and they flip flop. Obviously Pitt doesn't need any mention

Well the last two seasons we have had strong finishes, so that's a positive!
If we can gain some ground by the Olympic break we should come out of it in great shape. Tavares will be the only guy to go and Nabby will get a nice rest. If Lubo can make it back it's a huge plus as well

Vanek and Grabner will be going as well.

To the op, tor and det are 4th and 5th respectively in the Atlantic .... I think NYi need to be back close to nhl 500 by the Olympic break, and true 500 by end of season to have a real shot

Came to post that clip. Some people just don't get it: the season is over. Accept the fact and move on. Does anybody really thinking that we can gain all that ground on all of the following teams: Philly, Columbus, Rangers, Devils, Carolina?

Remember we have to outperform ALL of those teams, and catch up to all of them in the standings. What also makes it more difficult is that all of those teams play each other a lot more times, meaning if we start winning a lot of games-many of them will just be to tread water.

We're done. Period.
