My sister & I are getting up at 5:00 AM to watch the funeral. For us this is the first major royal event without our Mom watching with us.
The last state funeral in the UK was in 1965
My gut feeling on why many Americans follow the Royal Family is because we speak ENGLISH
I'm sure the family is relieved that after today they will be able to finally grieve their matriarch in private.

I was awake at 4 am so it is on. I hope all goes well. Security must be unreal with all of the world leaders there.
Today is "bring the 2 cats to the vet" day
I have had the two cat carriers in my living room for a week to get them used to it.
While they were eating breakfast, I closed all doors to the cellar and bedrooms so they couldn't hide.
My goal is to get them in the carriers by 8:30. We will see. They are very suspicious.
In the meantime, we are watching the funeral. I understand it seems silly to many, but it is history.
As I have said, Elizabeth was made queen a few months before I was born (yes, I am old).
My relatives from Newfoundland loved the British royals.
She lived a privileged life, but it wasn't her own.
All things considered I have respect for the woman.
Something about her reminds me of my Mom (who was 3 years older than the queen).
All of the music (organ) gets to me as my mother played the organ in a church in Boxborough MA for 49 years.

Really shows how much she meant to so many folks across the pond. David was given the opportunity to go the front of the line since he is a VIP, but he declined. He said he wanted to experience the sorrow with his fellow countrymen. Meant that much to him.

As a new convert to episcopal/Anglicanism this has been quite interesting. I get why they changed their name in the USA after the revolution haha
And to think, they would all still be Catholic (like myself) had the Act of Settlement not been a thing.
