Canada with the flurry of energy at the beginning and the end of the period.

They have to try and get more pucks on net during those periods.

Kulemin is a very good skater and good defensively. He's one of the Leafs' fastest skaters and won the fastest skater at the RSL All-star game.

Still doesn't make him a better choice than Zaripov right now.......especially when Zaripov has existing chemistry with Zinoviev.

When constructing a team, things aren't as simple as "He scored 30 goals in NHL, he should be top 6!"

Still doesn't make him better than Zaripov on big ice....especially when Zaripov has existing chemistry with Zinoviev.

When constructing a team, things aren't as simple as "He scored 30 goals in NHL, he should be top 6!"

Him being a better player makes him a better player.

Radulov's screw up on that 2 v 1 is exactly the problem that has been haunting Russia this tournament. In 2009 exactly the same situation was the gold winning goal.

so why is OV on the first line then, he's the most predictable player in the tourney

Zaripov is not the player he was still a couple years ago, the same goes for Morozov. Kulemin is the better player but whatever, I'd like to see Canada advance.

Good game so far and I predict Canada will win. Sick vision by Nikulin on that play to Afinogenov.

Russia had atleast 3 Great chances to score, plus 2 pretty good ones.

They let Canada skate around the perimeter a bit and take some blind shots for the most part.

Russian footspeed can kill any team

Particularly when Canada inevitably takes their foot off of the gas after the early pressure.

It'll likely be like that in every period.

Canada will try and come out like gangbusters, then will gradually subside for a bit which allows Russian mobility to take the momentum. At the end, Canada will surge again.

It's sort of what I expected given the lineups.

However, puck pressure and cycling in the offensive zone is good for Canada, even if they don't score, as it tires out Russia's d-men over the course of the game.
