The lack of a true first line is a bit disconcerting. Dano-Anisimov-Hartnell ain't a #1 line in anyone's book. Well, maybe in a couple of folks here but yikes it doesn't look good to me. And for those who say don't get hung up on the order as posted, any order would still lack a true #1 line.
I know this is nothing new but seeing it on "paper" in the last exhibition brings it home a bit.

Perhaps Bus' bad arguments have led us to think that maybe Wiz is underrated or something, but let's not forget that Wiz is a serious liability defensively. You do need to pair him with a smart, highly mobile player who can clean up the mess.

I think that Erixon fills that bill fairly well. At this stage I think Erixon and Murray are interchangeable at both ends of the rink. Murray's a better skater, Erixon's lankier, but I think the result is the same at this point. Ultimately Murray will probably be better, and that's why I see Erixon as the long-term complement to Wiz. Murray is trending up and will need top pair minutes, perhaps with JJ, while Wiz is trending down. Wiz should be treated like an offensive specialist (not a top 4 D) and one of these years Richards will catch on.

Agreed.

Though really the only thing that makes Jenner-Johansen-Horton a first line is Johansen, and the club can bring him back soon if it wants.
This is why I'm not GM. At this point I just say "Ok, you win, $4.25m a year it is".

I'd wager that Calvert-Dubinsky-Atkinson was pretty close to a #1 line in the playoffs last season.

And Dano-Anisimov-Hartnell has the potential to be a pretty solid #2 line, IMO.

Guess I'm not too worried.

I can assure you, you will never hear the front office of any team ever say, "you win..."

I agree, especially after Dubinsky getting his new contract and Johansens comment about him being the #2 center I could see that lighting a fire under his ass. But both lines bring a lot of energy and both bring physicality in different ways. The C-A-D line brings speed and in your face every step of the way physicality while the other brings more of a were gonna go through you and take the puck type of physicality.

**** I'd argue that Foligno-Letestu-Wennberg has the makings of a potentially solid 2nd line if Wennberg adjusts to the wing, while the 4th line should make a formidable 3rd line "shutdown" role

All I know is I'm glad I'm not the one making decisions! I feel Rychel and Boll will be the first outta the lineup when Joey and Jenner are back. Who to take out 3rd is gonna be tough if/when Horton comes back.

Is Erixon gonna be responsible enough to cover Wiz's lapses?

If Wiz places one TOE out of line defensively tonight I will drive to Columbus and stand outside in his yard and loudly play the Barbie Girl song all night on my boom box, Say Anything style.

Isn't that what was being said last year at this time? Then Jenner and Johansen developed and came through for us. What I know is we have a deep team of hard working players who fit our system. We may not reach our potential with the team we currently have, but I think we are better now than we were at this time last year.

This looks like our line-up for opening night barring any developments on the Johan front.

I gotta say, that is a line-up that really is made up of guys that are very defensively responsible, but with well balanced scoring touches throughout. No big time goal scorers, but a lot of different guys that can put the puck in the net at any given time.

Until we get our top 3 guys back, this will need to be another hard working group that needs to be opportunistic, and get good defensive play, and goal-tending.

Maybe not Wennberg or Dano, but the fact that Dano has played so much in this pre-season, and the fact that they are trying Wennberg on the wing in tonight's game leads me to believe that they are really trying to put these two into a position to make this team.

This is ridiculous. The game is being streamed free on BlueJackets.com but I can't get it because it's "not available in my area"... There should NOT be any blackout issues, I'm in California!

I'm also geo-blocked, in Massachusetts.
