Randy Miller's summary:
http://www.nj.com/flyers/index.ssf/...look_bad_in_2-0_preseason_loss_to_devils.html
THE GOOD
• G Rob Zepp, destined for the AHL unless backup Ray Emery isn’t healthy, was the best Flyers player by a whole lot making 38 saves, 33 in the first two periods. He saw a ton of rubber in the first two periods and played well enough to convince management that he could be a decent emergency policy this season for an NHL call-up due to injury.
• F Chris VandeVelde, in a fight for a roster spot, threw his body around some and won nine of 12 faceoffs.
• F Blair Jones, possibly battling VandeVelde for one roster spot, was the Flyers' best forward and set up the short-handed goal that made it a 2-1 game midway through the third. Jones also led the Flyers with five hits and was a plus-1.
THE BAD
• The Flyers took seven minor penalties and their PK didn't look good giving up two power-play goals, although it made up of it in third by scoring a shorthanded goal.
• Flyers D Nick Schultz was turnstiled three times in the first two periods and once it led to a Devils goal.
• The Flyers dressed three members of their second line, but Sean Couturier, Wayne Simmonds and Matt Read generated no offense and had all kinds of problems getting the puck out of their end. Read also took a bad penalty. Couturier was part of the scrum that was in front of the Flyers’ second on the Devils’ second goal.
