I voted for a bunch but does not mean I want them all at once or for the opening night or all season.

Jesse we have no choice as he need to go through waivers I think. Wouldn't Currie be waiver eligible too?

I feel like maybe Jones is ready as a 3rd pair D with Sekera. Maybe do a revolving door of Jones/Bear/Bouchard.

Would like to see Benson start in the AHL.

Benson I’d like to see given a shot.

I want Pulju to spend some time in the AHL but he’d have to go through waivers so we don’t really have a choice.

Voted Benson, Marody, Currie, Persson but if someone really impresses come training camp they should deserve a shot with the big club.

Jones needs a shot. He proved in a limited role he was a legit puck mover, but can’t be given too much too soon.

I think Puljujarvi needs to be in the NHL, but give him line mates and minutes. We don’t have wingers, so let him build his confidence. 20 games minimum playing next to one of our big centres and lots of PP time in order to see if there really is a player there. I hate the fact that it could hurt the team if he falters, but we can’t waste another talented asset like we did with Yakupov by asking him to change his game and play with Hendricks level talent.

Wouldn't mind seeing Bouchard, Benson, Marody, Jones and Bear at different times of the year. Certainly not all at the start of the season.

My answer is that I'd want all of them to have a chance to make the team if they deserve it, however I wouldn't give any of them a spot except for Jesse because of his waiver status. I'd be fine with Currie and Gambo as the 13th/14th forwards.

Only thing I disagree with is having two young guys as #13/14 forwards. Keep one up and let the other play in the AHL. Then swap them every 3 weeks or so.

I basically voted for the older guys. If the young guys earn a shot then so be it.

Puljujarvi and Jones. I’d like Bouchard and Benson to start in the AHL to begin next year. But if the new GM dosen’t add enough then they will probably be in the NHL

Voted None assuming it's for opening night.
Pulju needs to regain confidence and a year back in Europe would do him good.

Everyone else can start in the AHL

Puljujarvi just because he has to be. If the others can be sent down, I'd prefer they be in Bakersfield unless they blow the doors off.

I hope Currie gets a real shot next year, either way.

He was sporting a good p/60 and seemed to really compete.

Benson: He has made a believer out of me but my gut still says he needs another year to develop in the AHL is needed.

Marody: I've heard he may just be an ahl star due to skating and size but the earlier and more the guy gets into the nhl the better. Clear cut best forward in our system not in the nhl. As long as he is solid in camp he should have a spot on the Oilers to start.

Currie: no comment.

JP: injury free he is an nhler imo. A depth one but hopefully more soon.

Yama: Based on what I see he is minimum 2 years away from regular nhl time.

Jones: Being a leftie he is buried on the depth chart. I think he needs another year in the AHL anyways. Certainly shouldn't start in the nhl.

Bouchard: I think he will force the Oilers to start and finish in the nhl next year. Won't be upset if he doesn't but think he is good enough to be a positive force for the Oilers in a depth role now.

Bear: Him and Bouchard are battling for a spot imo. As righties that play the PP both could get regular nhl time. Both will most likely get some nhl time.

Samourakov: No. As amazing as his year was in imagine he gets a full year in the AHL.

Persson: Gets some time in the nhl if he shows well in camp, preason, and the ahl.

Lagesson: Yes. Be disappointed if he didn't. Perfect #7 at this point barring failure at camp and preseason.

Starrett: Yes. Desperation move due to cap. Hope he makes the team and gets played like a regular backup. 25 games. We have a lot of good goalie prospects. Get him in and see what he has at the nhl level.

Gambardella: Should see time due to injuries.

The Defense currently is:

Klefbom LD Larsson RD
Nurse LD Russell LD
Sekera LD Benning RD
18 different #7 options.

Even for Bouchard or Bear to upset any of the established nhl top 6 defenseman they will need to play very well, fill in for an injury, or see a trade.

On that note I expect Russell will be moved this offseason. He has a low actual salary and is a bonified nhl bottom 3 defender that can play either side. Should be an easy dump to a cap floor team. Just randomly think he will end up on the Rangers.

Hopefully Jones and Bear. Possibly Benson if he looks good. I liked Currie - faster than I thought he’d be. I am a huge Puljujarvi booster and am praying for him. He’s been handled terribly and will be vulnerable to the waiver wire, so now we are forcing him into a “make or break” season with us. I disliked Marody. Too damn slow. Hopefully he proves me wrong because our 3 and 4C spots are wide open. We need him.

I really hope the Oilers and Leafs revisit the Brown for Benning idea. I think if we can shelter Persson, Bear, or Bouchard on the bottom pairing we'd be better off. All three have the element to their game that Benning is trying to develop (shooting the puck).

It's a tough position with Benning. He is imo a proven #5 despite frustrating me too often. After his first breakout year I thought he was going to be a top4. The guys you mention are technically not even a proven #7 yet. And he is a RD where we are thin. Moving him with our Rd depth is dangerous.

The problem with Benning is that he hasn't developed. He's stagnated and I'm not sure the other's give up much to Benning in terms of the defensive aspect. For a bottom pairing, Benning is barely treading water. I did like hearing that he was actually working on his shot because it was something we needed.

Ideally one of the other three makes him expendable but we won't know until we see them play in game conditions.

Marody/Benson/Jones in 3rd line/3rd pairing minutes

They've earned it and if they need more time in Bako we can just send them down. However this doesn't mean we pencil them in. Look for improvements we can make to the roster in the summer (like adding a 3c) even if it means a guy like Marody is blocked out.

Currie will be able to be claimed on waivers and Gambo may also be able to be claimed although I maybe wrong on that.

I get very frustrated with Benning but your selling short. When he plays well he is invisible. When he plays bad he is very noticeable.

For a depth defender he has great stats and has been a plus player on a bad team 3 yesterday running.

I agree he has stagnated, even regressed, but at 24 and only 3 years in the nhl he still could get better. Where as Russell, who is better imo, absolutely has no where to go... and moving him opens more cap.

Benning is also a RFA. Very solid player on a decent contract that is "controlled" moving forward.

I would potentially move Sekera before Benning at this point. Depending on circumstances.
