I'll admit I'm very far from an expert on prospects - but it seems like OP you made a few obvious mistakes.

example: Montreal, why is Caufield not there, but Poehling there? Poehling has 28 NHL games, Caufield a lot less. Is this supposed to be 0 NHL games? Or - Calder eligible? If so Caufield is clearly our best prospect

I did it based on prospect rankings on teams' respective board, apparently Montreal board considered Caufield graduated but not Poehling.

Los Angeles has the deepest pool. Headlined by a lethal trio of Byfield-Turcotte-Clarke. I think this is agreed upon by most. Next:
2. Anaheim
3. Detroit
4. Buffalo
5. Ottawa

Like I said i'm far from an expert on prospect pools from other teams - but there are certainly a lot of uneven names listed here. Someone just brought up Lafreniere in NYR for example. No way he should be there, he's not even a rookie anymore

We’re counting LaF and Miller? This should be NYR 100%. If LaF and Miller count, so does Kravtsov as well. No team should beat LaF/Miller/Kravtsov/Lundkvist/Schneider/Barron/Jones/Othmann/Robertson

I think this poll is going to be clouded by the fact that some teams have their top prospects listed while others don't.

Should really only have Calder eligible players, lots of these “prospects” have a full year of NHL experience

Agreed. This should only include Calder eligible players.
Feel free to go through all 32 teams and adjust for only Calder-eligibles lol.
Though it can be misleading as well, Alex Nedeljkovic is Calder-eligible and very few Wings fans consider him a prospect still.

Looks like NYR board used the standard HFboards metric for prospects, which still counts Lafreniere and Miller.

I have the ducks ahead of the kings, simply because I am more confident in their top 2 being legitimate impact players in the NHL (Zegras/Drysdale). As a thought experiment seems like Anaheim would reject a trade offer of Byfield + Clarke for either one of them straight up.

Lists are inconsistent, as NYR fans consider Lafreniere a prospect but Habs fans don't consider Caufield a prospect, so it's a little tricky and we probably need ground rules as to where the cutoff should be.

That said, either way, it's easily LAK and I don't think it's even close right now. They have the star power, sure, but their 9th best prospect is likely #3 on most other teams.

Before I vote , what’s a prospect, U23, less than 25 games in the NHL, ....other

Ie. NYR have LaFreniere, but Ottawa doesn’t have Stützle listed

The Rangers board is the outlier in terms of the criteria they used. So for the sake of uniform criteria, the names Alexis Lafreniere and K'Andre Miller shall be stricken from the record!

I am going to dissent from the majority and say that the Kings prospect pool is a bit overrated.

They have a deep pool but it's mostly potential middle-six and middle-pair types. Even Alex Turcotte, their third ranked prospect, isn't looking like he'll be much of a difference maker anymore. I believe Kaliyev is 4th (?), and who knows if he can be maintained as a regular.

And I personally have Trevor Zegras ahead of Quinton Byfield, Drysdale ahead of Clarke, and McTavish ahead of Turcotte. So I'm going to go with Anaheim.

If you look at the way the Colorado Avalanche have been built, it's entirely dependent on drafting a few elite players. There's no depth drafting to speak of. Depth drafting separates middling teams from bad teams, it doesn't make a team #1.

Detroit Ana and kings prob top 3

I think Ana and la are pretty close

byfield vs zegras
Clarke vs drysdale
Turcotte vs mctavish

could see all 3 going either way, pending what you value
