You dont keep deadwood like Alzner an extra year to save what, 1M of salary cap?? Hes not an NHl player anymore, so take him out of his misery!! Or maybe they can send him to the AHL?? I dont know whats the best strategy but theres no way he should be on that team if they really intend to play a quick transition fast pace game.

Do you need cap space or what's the deal? Just sit him if you don't want to play him...

You dont need the cap space, but you dress 8D sit him and waive Scherbak?! With all the forwards they have right now they have to keep 7D-14F.. As i was saying, he’s very lucky that Schlemko and Weber are injured because he would be really at risk of being bought out or sent in the ahl like Bredan Smith last year, now with the injuries they would have to keep Despres over him, i doubt they’ll do that.

Let's disagree, Alzner was never in any danger.

You don't buyout 4 years of contract after one season where the whole team sucked.

Alzner is safe. It's Benn who risks losing his spot.

But I think we would agree both should be out.

After a handful of games it will become apparent that the Alzner from last year was not an anomaly.

I just hope Julien will actually adjust the lineup accordingly.

Reilly Petry
Mete Juulsen
Ouellet Benn/Alzner until Weber gets back
Benn/Alzner

Yep, lets disagree, you dont keep a guy who’s not an nhl player anymore because he’s got 4 years on his contract, if your doing that your sending a very bad message to your team

Lines at practice this morning:

Tatar - Danault - Hudon
Byron - Drouin - Armia
Agostino - Peca - Scherbak
de la Rose - Plekanec - Chaput
Domi/Lehkonen - Kotkaniemi - Chaput

Ouellet - Juulsen
Benn - Petry
Alzner - Despres
Mete - Reilly

Price
Niemi
Lindgren

Yeah RDS says Lehkonen, KK, Reilly, Mete not playing because they've made the team.

Looks like Chaput, DLR, Scherbak, Agostino and Despres will be given a real close look and that final decisions haven't been made.

This ! And I rather have Shlemko when he will be back than Alzner and Benn. We had some succes with this quick transition thing Julien try to implant, be sure that strategy will not work with either of Alzner or Benn on the ice

I have no idea why Agostino has gotten so many chances. That's not who you need to see what he's all about right now. Agostino is a perfect candidate to see him dominate again the AHL and call up. But to start the year? You need to know what DLR and Scherbak are all about. The constant Agostino PP tryout was ridiculous.

He is a filler at this point of the preseason. He won’t make the team, neither will Chaput

Interesting that they are resting half their D for the final exhbition game.

This is the time you typically see the full lineup, but I'm guessing the coaching staff still feels undecided on how the opening lineup should look on defense.
