About what I expected, I thought this game was going to be close and that's what it has been.

I haven't seen all the game, but what little I have tells me that RNH/Eberle/Pouliot look very good together, some quality Flames goaltending and a bit of bad luck are the only reasons they haven't found the scoresheet a couple of times so far.

Nilsson has looked very good, he keeps this up and he'll make things very interesting over the next week and change.

I really like Laleggia, but he got exposed a bit on that turnover at the point that led to the penalty shot. Luckily Nilsson bailed him out.

I'm guessing that's homer vision. Can't wait to watch the whole fight.

Had to check for myself, and not only did Smith win according to HF Calgary, but the reason he was bleeding was because Nurse scratched him (according to one Calgary poster). Homer vision is putting it lightly.

I love that Nurse fought. Shut up a goon trying to get retribution and make a name for himself. But in the reg season I dont wanna see that. I could care less if Nurse beats down a scrub. Need him playing actual hockey

Same. The last thing he needs is to break a hand on some tomato can's visor and be out for a month. I love the exuberance, but I hope that's the last fight we see for him for a while. He doesn't have anything left to prove in that regard.

hahaha thats awesome. It was a bomb right to the visor and you could see it cut him. Smith landed some more punches, but Nurse landed the ones that will make you hate your life the 3 days after getting socked that hard

Take it from a former Jr. B fighter. id much rather take 3 glancing blows than 1 bomb. I remember each and every punch I took like that to this day

You could tell when he stood him up at the blueline and they were engaged that he didnt want to give him the time of day, but did it to get some facepuncher off your back. Might as well settle the score early rather than have some goon looking for retribution into the future. then you gotta worry about head hits and dirty stuff

Agreed. But kinda like prison rules, by having that fight, players are going to know about it. Better that he gets it out of the way early and in a meaningless game.

Nurse is incredibly impressive in a lot of ways. I still think AHL time will help him become a better player still. But when he's eventually ready he's going to be someone other teams hate to play against. The Oilers need a player like that.
