My Opening Night 23:

Teravainen - Staal - Williams
Aho - Rask - Lindholm
Skinner - Ryan - Kuokkanen/Stempniak
Nordstrom - Kruger - Jooris

Slavin - Pesce
Hanifin - Faulk
Fleury - vanRiemsdyk
Carrick-Dahlbeck

Darling / Ward

Yeah, I think that's the opening line-up as well + McGinn if Stempniak is on IR to make it 23. McGinn will likely be on the roster based on last year, even if it's a 13th forward or 4th line. It's going to be interesting though. Listening to Forslund yesterday, it sounds like Stempniak hasn't even joined the team yet. He may be out for a lot longer than 9 games so do they burn a year of Kuokkanen's ELC if he's out for an extended period? If he's playing very well through 9, contributing and the team is doing well, it's a no brainer for me, I easily would keep him. If not, send him down and keep a PDG or McGinn or someone else on that line.

PDG just didn't show much in the pre-season, nor were the Canes seemingly putting him on lines that indicated he's part of the future.

I don't know what is going on in this game. I don't even know what to make of these forum changes. All I know is I really hope this is the last time we play as the "home team" in cities like Saskatoon, Quebec City, etc.

1 preseason game in Charlotte in 20 years, 1.

Alright rant over, go team!

Bojangles/Cricket seats almost 10k I believe? And the Checkers generally draw quite well for a "NASCAR" hotbed. I'd think if the marketing folks played their cards right, they'd be looking at a near or complete sell-out of any pre-season Canes game in Charlotte. Although, it may be the case like someone has already said, that the team gets some sort of financial kickback for a game out in Western Canada as the "home team", but as a Charlotte area Canes fan, it's extremely frustrating to see the organization completely ignore, outside of what the Checkers organization does, the largest city in NC.

So exactly how bad has Ward been?

We are now 6 games into preseason, and Cam Ward has spent 160 minutes in net, leaving 142 for the other goaltenders.

Ward: .882 Save | 3.00 GAA
Others: .929 Save | 1.69 GAA

(can't find shot totals for game 6, recollection is that it was 30-22 in favor of the Canes...I'll correct these stats if that is wrong)

Really?? You're gonna put that on Ward when he's had AHL defensemen in front of him the whole time???

To me, he seems to be tracking toward AAAA territory. He's not unskilled, he's not tiny, he's not soft... but he just doesn't excel in either skill or size or grittiness. I'm sure he'll dominate the minors but now that he's about to hit 24, it's hard to see him becoming anything more than an injury substitute at the NHL level.

I wonder how much the concussions impacted him. He seemed to be kind of hitting his stride a couple years ago and had the inside track to at least get a 3rd/4th line winger spot, then the multiple concussions and now he's been passed by. He also doesn't look as aggressive to me now as he did a couple years ago.

A- on a report card, not bad Cameron! :sarcasm: To be fair, the two McDavid goals he had no chance on. The first two he should have done better though and he looked awkward making saves and gave up poor rebounds.

What school do/did you go to where 82% is an A-?

My (public) high school had a 7 point grading scale. An 80% was closer to a D than a B* (it was a C, comparison fail).
