Leafs are scary because they are tough to match up against up front. No need to change that like Edmonton tried to do by trading Hall and Eberle..they were no longer scary up front and failed to improve defensively when the dust settled.

Also, no team is trading a good RD unless it’s an overpayment.

Do people realize we did this with the LD last year and found out we have Dermott and Borgman who can play in our top 6 moving forward?

Yup and it’s a work in progress. Manson and Montour weren’t always the pretty picks...

Leafs already has limited cap space they can’t absorb Subban’s $9M salary without moving another high priced player. Preds can get a better deal than a Nylander + 1st + cap dump.

This is such a poorly researched trade, neither team will accept.

You are grossly underrating Nylander. His value alone is smiliar to the almost 30 year old subban

Its not really a comparable situation.

I just think now is the time for the Leafs to go all in while the kids are on entry contracts... even if you just get a rental at the deadline.

We have a good forward group and LD situation. We can afford to let these guys develop in the AHL and NHL and reassess at the deadline. These guys are pretty much NHL ready. Also Anaheim was a contender and developed Fowler Lindholm Vaatanen Montour Manson while being a contender. It’s not a new concept.

Marner is the better player in the trade , Younger & will have a cheeper cap hit .

Not saying it isnt possible. Just that it's easier when you can insulate them better. Dermott seemed to do okay so maybe the leafs will be fine. Time will tell.
