John Tavares also hasn't played with playmaking wingers the caliber of Mitch Marner or on a team as talented offensively as he is about to. JT has put up 30+ goals in 3 of the past 4 seasons, coming 2-3 goals shy of 40 in 2 of them. Its not unreasonable to project JT getting north of 40.

I just think switching those goals and assists totals is alot more likely

Not at all, you seem to be forgetting Marner is a playmaking winger and Tavares is a sniping centre. Babcock has already confirmed they are going to play together. JT is most likely going to have a career year in goals. 40+ incoming.

I watched Tavares for 9 seasons, he put up more goals than assists 1 time in his career, that one time was the shortened season and he was forced to play with brad boyes and he scored at almost a 50 goal pace pro rated to 82 games

He can but his passing ability is way more impressive

:flyers

1 - Giroux - 27 G, 86 points
2 - Voracek - 20 G, 76 points
3 - Couturier - 28 G, 66 points
4 - Gostisbehere - 17 G, 64 points
5 - Konecny - 27 G, 61 points

HM to JvR with 31-56, Simmonds with 27-52, and Patrick with 20-50.

I don't see those 8 players providing 197 goals (if they do those assist totals would be way higher, too), and I don't think Simmonds breaks 25 with JVR gobbling his PP time.

Matthews 50+42=92 Points (Wins Selke Trophy)
Marner 30+55=85 Points
Tavares 37+40=77 Points
(gets a lot of backlash for not bringing it)
Marleau 45+26=71 Points (Career year in goals now that JVR is gone and Marleau can mooch freely off of Matthews, Marner and Tavares)
Kadri 30+32=62 Points

Even as a Leafs fan I have to laugh at some of these projections and wonder where all the ice time is going to come from for guys to hit them.

Tavares will be playing with better players, yes, but he's also used to playing 20 minutes a night and 3 minutes per game on the powerplay. He ain't getting that on the Leafs, not with Babs coaching and not with the Matthews line expecting their share of deployment. Anything he gains by playing with Marner is likely lost by 18 minutes of ice time and 1:30/game on the PP. Best case scenario he holds the line around a PPG.

I'm very optimistic about the team as a whole but on an individual basis it's far more likely we have a guy in the low 80's, a couple of guys in the 70's, and a guy or two underperforming in the 60's for whatever reason (down year, bumped around the lineup, gets PP2 time instead of PP1, only so much to go around, etc)

I can't even begin to guess who scores what because we will have such a balanced attack that nobody will have a clear opportunity advantage to truly separate themselves from the pack. And there's always the unpredictable injuries.

I'd advise Leafs fans to be confident about the team's results but temper expectations on individual players.

Those 8 players had 195 last year so it's not really that far off thought I know it's hard to really predict when a guy like JvR wasn't on the team and we don't even know what his role is or how it will affect everyone else. Who knows who will take the hit with JvR comingor what the PP will look like. It's entirely possible that Konecny or Patrick see a dip in PP time and not Simmonds. It is Hak we're talking about. It's also unlikely they are all healthy for 82 games which is what my prediction is based on.

Tampa
Eichel 33-52-85
Reinhart 28-34-62
Mittelstadt 19-31-50
Okposo 25-20-45
Ristolainen 9-30-39

Sheary could end up in the 50 range as well if hes with Eichel the whole year but ill wait to see where they slot him in
