Along with half the GMs in the league, I would imagine.
If Francis signs Vesey I wouldn't even care if Vesey turns out to be a bust. It'd be worth it just to see the reactions from the other fan bases.
You will all say I'm too high...I guess that makes me an optimist.
I've found that most people are usually an optimist when they are high. And hungry too.
if i did my mental math correctly 228 goals from forwards is a lot
the whole team scored 196 last year
I am reasonably confident the new guys plus steps forward offensively by the young D will lead to small goal improvements for everyone meaning a significant boost across the board.
228 from the forwards would probably make the Canes the highest scoring team in the NHL.
Yep, close. Dallas's forwards had 233 last year and Washingtons' had 217. And obviously, the Canes don't have anyone like Ovechkin, Benn or Seguin on the team.
Skinner 22g, 29a, 51p
Staal 22g, 28a, 50p
Rask 19g, 30a, 49p
Teravainen 15g, 28a, 43p
Stempniak 19g, 22a, 41p
Lindholm 18g, 22a, 40p
Aho 13g, 25a, 37p
DiGiuseppe 18g, 12a, 30p
Nestrasil 12g, 15a, 27p
Nordstrom 10g, 9a, 19p
Stalberg 9g, 8a, 17p
McClement 8g, 4a, 12p
Bickell 4g, 5a, 9p
if I count right that's 189 goals, 237 assists
I have to think about total points, but goals prediction for 82G pace:
Skinner: 23 vs. 37
Rask: 22 vs. 16
Staal: 21 vs. 16
Lindholm: 21 vs. 11
Stempniak: 15 vs. 16
Aho: 15 vs. 24
Teravainen: 14 vs. 15
Nestrasil: 12 (assumed was healthy on on roster 82 games)
Nordstrom: 8 vs. 7
Stalberg: 8 vs. 9
PDG: 8 McGinn took his spot, and he and McGinn had 8
Bickell: 3 vs. 1 (only played 11 games)
McClemment: 2 vs. 5
Considering SeaBass didn't score his first goal until Nov. 12 (1st two actually), it will be interesting to see if he can get off to a faster start next season.
I didn't do too bad on this at least in terms of points. Rask had 45, I guessed 49. Staal had 45, I guessed 50. Lindy had 45, I guessed 40. TT had 42, I guessed 43. Stemp had 40, I guessed 41. Really underestimated Skinner and Aho by a lot, but who saw Aho becoming a full-fledged sniper like that, not many. I missed on the bottom of the roster guys, but if you sub in Ryan for PDG and McGinn for Nestrasil, it comes close.
His short scouting report from eliteprospects.
"A super smart two-way player with excellent instincts. Primarily a playmaker, Aho relies on his hockey IQ and has the ability to dictate the pace of the game with the puck. Always calm and in control, Aho is a good skater who positions himself well and has the skill-set to handle all on-ice situations. Aho has experience as both center and winger. (Matias Strozyk, 2016)"
I think we all knew he was going to be a smart two-way player and playmaker. I didn't expect him to have legit scoring touch. There are guys in the HOF with 500+ goals who never had the ability to pick a corner and get the shot off in an instant the way he does sometimes.
I didn't expect him to be that good that quickly, however. Needing a month or two to adjust is ridiculous. Playing with a kid that could become one of the best goal scorers in history tends to overshadow your own ability to put it in the net.
In his exit interview, he said he's going to focus in improving his skating in the off-season.
