It was a beautiful evening late in the spring 2013 when I got hammered in the city centre of Jyväskylä. The beer league season had ended. The sauna night with our team behind us. As the pubs were closing at 4 am, me and my friends needed to acquire yet another beer or two. Someone mentioned that maybe "Vadu" would offer us some at his place. We waited outside Vadu's apartment for awhile, before the gentleman himself arrived. We got in, and Vatanen was kind enough to offer some beer and dip too. I used it the right way, the spitting dromedary way, others the Swedish way.

Which was nice.

The second part made me scratch my head a bit, but the first part is very ''Latvian-like''. :sarcasm: Maybe except the bar closing time as most of them start to consider closing at 6am earliest

Well the legislation in Finland is a bit different, 4am is the latest a bar can stay open. Although, there are few clubs that close for an hour and reopen at 5am and close again at 12.

I haven't met any Ducks player personally. I have really talked with one explayer.

I met Teemu after a Fedorin Cup game last year and he lived up to the legends. Didn't leave until everyone who wanted an autograph got one, and was even nice enough to take pictures with a lot of people. Very talkative, down to earth, and genuine. Could not have been happier about getting to meet him.

Also, seems like the consensus on Gibson is pretty clear. "Not a people person" I suppose.

Interesting to hear nice things about Brown. I didn`t had any opinion on him but he seriously never had my attention in a bad/douchy way.
And even though he was small, he still was able to play big  Hudler is not the biggest of players but he just got destroyed here. Hudler didn`t expected this though.

What was Pronger like when you meet him? I always giggle about his nasty smile at the 1:00 of this video

I was at that game. What a heartbreaking loss...

And seeing Pronger in that video just makes me wish he was still on the Ducks. Man would he be perfect in a series against the Kings.

The only Duck that I ever met that gave me a bad impression was Belesky. He just seemed real into himself.

Kyle Chipchura was by far the goofiest hockey player I ever met. His head bounced up and down when he talked. Reminded me of Canadiens on South Park.

Bobby Ryan hands down is the nicest. I was out side the Honda Center with my gf after the Ducks loss to the Canadiens one night. All of the Canadiens were waiting to get a glimpse of Koivu. Bobby Ryan saw me and my gf with our Ducks Jerseys on getting heckled by all of the Canadians fans. He stopped, got out of his vehicle and walked up to us. Shook my hand and gave us autographs. Some of the Canadian fans asked for autographs. He laughed and said he would only sign stuff that was Ducks related or if they had a puck that just said NHL on it.

Parros and Selanne were also super friendly.

"met" as in like 5 seconds? Haha. I've only been able to attend training camps so far.

In 2013 during training camp was the first time I met the players. Probably the best experience up until today. Training camp in the shortened season I got pics with Koivu, Selanne, Beauchemin, Souray, Fowler, Bonino, DSP, Etem, Palmieri, Allen, Lindholm, Rakell, Getzlaf, and Perry. Got some pics of others in there. All of them were super nice, signed stuff & took pics with the fans. (Helped that it was at HC & they were being extra nice because of the lockout, but hey).

2013-2014 training camp

This time TC was at AI and some players can just sneak off unnoticed or easily drive off. Didn't have much luck getting quantity, but managed to get the twins again. Vatanen, & Palmieri.

Training Camp today:

I just missed out on getting Kesler, but according to twitter, he was nice and approachable.

Thompson was super nice, I can see him becoming a fan fav (as long as he plays well).

Silfverberg is probably one the nicest players I've met. Signed for everyone and took pictures. Here's the thing with fans, everyone's shy to ask for pics so when one person asks everyone starts asking for pics. Some guys act like they didn't hear or sign while walking to their car, but Silfver was there till he got everyone that wanted something.

Beauchemin apparently only signs inside the rink, maybe he doesn't like being surrounded around his car, idk, but I got his auto inside before I knew that so it didn't really matter when he got outside, but he was one that just got in his car (that was parked inside the gate) and left.

According to fans that know the guys a little more, Vatanen has a little mean in him. Doesn't really liked to be bothered. He was trying to sneak through, but we got him to sign some stuff after all.

Devo and Cam were carpooling... new besties? haha. Cam is always nice. Nice to know he hasn't let fame get to him...unlike others. Devo's gotten some bad reviews in Norfolk with the fans in the past, but finally snapped out of that this past season so it was nice to see him continue that here in Anaheim.

Funny notes:

Perry was signing from his car & he would sign, inch forward a little bit, stop, & sign for the next fan, inch forward again. He did this like 5 times. Pretty funny watching it. I didn't bother with Perry. I knew he was trying to get out of there. It was just ...:laugh::laugh: He smiled though.

Getzy was part of the 2nd group so all the parking spots inside the gates at AI were taken so he just parked in the middle of the lot, blocking the far exit (he was one of the last to leave). Guess he needs the space too with those big doors.

But the funny part was Beauchemin trying to get out of his parking spot with Getzy's car there.

So fortunately all my experiences have been pleasant & hope they continue to be. :)

Not a player, but Bob Murray lived across the street from me in Montreal when I was growing. Never saw him much, as he was usually in Cornwall ( 90 mi. away) with his hockey team at the time, the Cornwall Royals. He wasn't the tallest guy - I was taller at 14 than him- but he was pretty ripped from lifting weights. Besides that, was pretty quiet guy... No wild parties, unlike another soon to be NHL'er down the street.

I met both Cogliano and Boudreau today at a Q&A at my work. Boudreau is really talkative, talked to him for a good 10-15 minutes. He can go on and on about last season, this season, when he used to play, anything and everything. On the other hand, Cogs kind of seemed like he didn't want to be there. Granted that it was supposed to be Cam there, but couldn't make it, assuming because of the injury, Cogs just seemed like he had better things to do. Not saying he wasn't friendly, just seems like hes one of those guys that are all business.

Must be Honda. My gf's sister works at Honda and my gf was texting me some pics of BB and Cogs.

EK, why were they there? I asked my gf and never got an answer. Were they in building 100?

edit: Honda Headquarters in Torrance

yeah i work at honda! They were in building 100. Since Honda is one of their main sponsors, i think they do it as a "giving back" type of thing. actually won an autographed Cam Fowler puck, which i also got Cogs to sign lol.
