Michael Russo: Possible Stadium Series Game next season?

I was under the impression that Winter Classic games were for American teams and Heritage Classic games were for Canadian teams, too. Toronto vs. Detroit changed that, so I guess it's a possibility for the Wild to play the Jets in a Heritage Classic game.

I guess I always assumed that the Winter Classic games were played in the city of the host US team while the Heritage Classic games were played in the city of the host Canadian team. I don't think the away team's nationality ever really mattered (especially in the Winter Classic).

Winter Classic = large market NE teams + Chicago

Stadium Series = large market teams that aren't in the WC

You're just never going to see small market teams (including Minnesota) in a major outdoor game. Not enough of a draw.

1 Million bigger than Pittsburgh. 2.5 million bigger than Buffalo. But we also aren't the face of the NHL or across the river from Toronto.
