My tickets in Section 319 now say "Limited View" and this concerns me. This is for the top row of 319 and Row G.

Not scoreboard related.

I've had those seats for years tough. My 5'3 girlfriend can see the whole ice over that - as long as she isnt leaning back.

Seems odd they just added it this year

I dunno... it would be odd to NOT have it on there given the pic above, but then add it because of the scoreboard.

More than likely they just tweaked something in their system which recognized that barrier.

From my Seasom Ticket Rep:

"Thanks for reaching out. I hope you’re doing well! This is a topic that we’ve had a few STMs come to us with. We believe the new scoreboard is what is causing the tickets to say “Limited View”, but rest assured, the scoreboard does not cause an obstruction to your view of the ice."

Unless they raise it up behind the speakers, I don't know how its not going to impede views in the upper deck. This right here is the view from the Club level....

That is one powerful scoreboard. Maybe it really is the Borg.

I could be wrong but I don't think the bottom of this scoreboard is any lower than the bottom of the old one. This picture looks like it was taken at or near the last row of the upper level:

It was also hanging underneath the speakers, and it doesn't look that different in total height than the new one. The individual screens were much smaller, but the overall vertical "footprint" looks about the same and leaves plenty of margin for error if the new one is slightly taller.

Yeah but the footprint of the new scoreboard is MUCH larger. Blueline to blueline and looks to be wider than the previous one. So yes, it hangs just as low as the old, but now you also have it hanging that low at the bluelines instead of just at the center ice dot, which is going to impede vision for some up top, especially right behind the net.

Put it this way.... This was my view for Game 6 against the Caps, and there were still a couple rows above me...

People with those seats will not be able to see the entire ice going forward.

Clearly this means PNC is going to have to be demolished and rebuilt. There is absolutely no other solution. Bring in the demo squad tonight!

There's nothing on the ticket sales site saying anything about obstructed views. Can that be right?

I'm having a hard time believing they'd put up an obstruction, which took the better part of a year to plan, and we're sitting here less than a week before the preseason and they haven't made any kind of announcement or accomodation for the people in those sections. This is something that needed to be addressed at select-a-seat, because people are making their purchasing decisions based on views of the ice.

I'm optimistically holding out hope that the organization wouldn't screw up to that kind of magnitude.

OK, so I asked the sales office.

Apparently — and I know how silly this sounds but this is what I was told — the “limited view” tags are coming from the fact that the scoreboard blocks lines of sight of the crowd on the other side of the arena. Which was the case before as well, I know. But apparently the NHL had folks come out and clear all views of the ice as being unobstructed by the scoreboard.
