first let's look at last year 13-14 playoffs penalty kill ranking: Montreal 11th out of 16 team.

Then let's look at Plekanec stats during these playoffs:

-8th in team scoring
-last in +/-
-49.5% in faceoffs
-2 hits

Plekanec has been my favorite Hab for years and Saku & Markov running a close 2nd most of that time. Now of course Price, Pacioretty & Subban are reaching those lofty heights with their consistent play, all very determined to be the best at their positions.:handclap::handclap::handclap:
Although he was the second player taken by the Habs in his draft year he proved to be far more valuable than the first, Mike Komisarek.

Really not sure this is a good penalty.

Plekanec has his stick lifted by St-Louis, his own stick touch him in the face and he has a reaction.
Nothing embarrassing here, he did not asked for a penalty, just continued to play.
Could have been a reflex.

You see this as diving... I see him having a reflex.
This is not clear cut...

You want to see clear cut diving:

Look at Julien's reaction on this one:

Then he start to make us cry, Julien is pretty good at spinning:

You saw Ference, the guy who gave Habs fans a finger dive.
Nothing like Plekanec... The guy dives literally without being touched.

Touched on the left leg, Get off the ice with right leg injured:

The best piece about Marchand is:

Habs a a tradition of fair play.
Just look at Pat Burns with Lemieux. Then later with Ribeiro.

Marchand alone, in one season did more diving than all Habs together for the last 5 seasons.

By the way, are you a Habs fan?
Fells like trolling to me.

Plekanec is not a diver:

In my perception, he is the kind of player that does not complain.
Look at this call:

You want to complain about Plek, then this one:

Is more in line...

We will see this season, Referees are looking at games and they do not want to look bad.
So with the new rules about diving, we should have a better idea on who is bad.

You make it like we are the only team diving in the league and others teams are perfect.
Referees will tell us a better story...

One of the problems is there should be more of a distinction made between embellishment and a pure dive.
On the players side they have absolutely zero faith the Ref is going to see an infraction. The most common embellishment is the head snap on high sticking. This tends also to be the one that ires most fans when there is actually no contact. So if the league cracks down on these offenders (after the fact) this should help some.

The only way to eliminate embellishment diving is to make it a 4 minute penalty. Why not? It is more despicable than that accidental clip where the player was able to sqeeze out a drop of blood. It will also allow
us to rid the game of those ridiculous off-setting (easy way out) calls. Players dive because they KNOW the ref is likely to call both at the very worse. So four and two or a straight four for a particularly bad performance. This will clean things up a lot quicker,,,

Whatever Jackpot says about the playoffs is ********. He got the most minutes because the other teams top offensive centers (Stamkos, Krejci) got a lot of minutes and plekanec is the only center the habs have (and one of the best in the league) able to matchup against these top centers and shut them down.

Krejci has dominated the playoffs, but never against pleks. Crosby/Malkin sucked against pleks, even Ovechkin was being hounded by pleks in 2010. This team needs him to matchup against the best offensive centers to shut them down and allow our depth to score points (hense why Eller, briere, weise, bourque, etc were able to score points).

You get rid of pleks, and you have one of eller, chuckie, dd or Malhotra at 34 years old matching up against Krejci, Stamkos, Crosby, Malkin, Tavares, Giroux etc... no thank you!

This would be a good idea if the reality were not that half the diving or embellishment calls given out today are bulls**t.

I'd like the referees to have an object come unexpectedly near their eye and not react out of instinct, or get their feet impeded when they are on frigging ICE and not lose their balance. It's not hard to do, these "tests", perhaps next summer or in exhibition games, and then we might see refs with a little less arrogance doing their work.

You are selective in pulling up those stats. If any other Hab center played with those line mates in the role to which Therrien assigns him I can assure you their stats would not be elegant.

Don't take anything about Mr. Jackpot on Plekanec seriously.

He even came out with a stat claiming Plekanec had the least skating distance last season implying Plekanec was a lazy player or something. No kidding.
