As much as Tatar has been shit, I’ll give the line one more chance. The bigger thing is getting TT and Suzuki going, and they showed chemistry with Caufield against Edmonton. I also like the idea of Byron-KK-Anderson. That a line with a lot of speed and physicality that can produce as well. The question is the 4th line. Pretty much down to who’s healthier between Evans and Staal as both are banged up.

Toffoli-Suzuki-Caufield
Byron-KK-Anderson
Tatar- Danault-Gallagher
Lehkonen-Staal/Evans-Perry

Its so f***ing obvious it hurts. Such annoying coaching.
It’s coaches and management trying to appease the vets in spite of their terrible play. Experience only goes so far. If the body doesn’t take you there, you need to find someone who can and rely on vets like Toffoli, Petry, Edmundson, Anderson, Gally etc. Experience but can still produce.

I’m gonna cut him some slack given his center is Danault and they’re not on the ice to score but shit down the top line during the playoffs. Put him in a different role and with another center and his leadership and goals will come.

The whole issue with the PP is the entry. Well, there might be other issues, but how would we know?

Yes, entries are a huge issue. Part of the idea is to load up your top unit, and give yourself the best chance to setup with the cards you have. It would also help if KK and Suzuki can win alot of their draws to open up a PP too.

Two options I wouldn’t mind seeing in game 3 for the forward group:

Toffoli-Suzuki-Armia
Tatar-Danault-Gallagher
Caufield-KK-Anderson
Lehkonen-Evans-Byron

Or

Caufield-Suzuki-Anderson
Tatar-Danault-Gallagher
Toffoli-KK-Armia
Lehkonen-Evans-Byron

And this is the moment where you give the team to the youth.

Armia - Danault - Anderson

This would be the shutdown line. Anderson should be told to hit Marner every single time he touches the puck.

Toffoli - Suzuki - Caufield

Scoring line, going up against butter soft Nylander.

Lehkonen - Kotkaniemi - Byron

Speedy line that worked in last year's playoffs.

Tatar - Evans - Gallagher

I like the idea of Evans-Gallagher on a line. Tatars been a ghost but so has Perry and Tatar at least has speed.

Edmundson - Petry
Chiarot - Weber
Romanov - Merril

At this point in his career, Perry has to be used to maximize his talents and minimize his lack of speed/endurance and he isn't being used that way...Tatar has not that excuse; he's just never been worth a Tinker's damn in the Playoffs...

So there is Caufield, Romanov, Frolik, Gustafson And the Black Aces:

Belzile, Dauphin, Ylonen & Vejdemo from forwards.

Fleury, Leskinen & Ouellet from D.

Primeau & McNiven from G.

Are those all the Habs options? Who out of those forwards are good forecheckers who are decently fast that hit hard?

I would like to have some better forecheckers, although hard to know who to take out. I would like to take Kotkaniemi out but unless Evans comes back they maybe don't have any other centers?

Regardless of the 1000000 line combos suggested the players have to committed to balls to the wall, heavy play while respecting positioning.
Work back like Anderson does. ( esp with Nylander cause ya know he will pull up if carrying the puck)
F1 balls out n finish checks always.
Evert Dzone whistle grab a Leaf player. Initiate the scrum than leave it to them to go squirrely
Drag the game down but smartly.
I'd love to see CC n Romanov play in. Romanov for a potential open ice crush n CC as a potential game breaker but they gotta play smart if inserted and not try n do too much which will be tough for youngins.

With all the injuries, I would load up the top 6 with the best offensive players, have a 3rd defensive line centered by Phil, and then a competent 4th line. It worked for us last year when went down 2-1 to the pens in the opening series:

Toffoli Suzuki Caufield
Tatar Kotkaniemi Gallagher
Byron Danault Anderson
Armia Frolik Perry

hate to say it, but we could use the Drouin from last year's playoffs.

It is so obvious that we have to do that.

Suzuki, Caufield and Kk were our best offensive players yesterday.

It’s so obvious that Dom Dom won’t do it

Replace Gally and Anderson. Gally useless this year

If evans is good to go he has to play. He has shown he deserves it more than a lot of players.

Tatar comes out

I actually dont mind evans on the first line with zuk and cc. He has shown chemistry with CC and can take a draw if needed. Put toffoli with KK. Evans also plays with some energy and pace which that line needs.
