Franck: Zubov´s 89 points doesnt deserve a mention here, because Zubov was an elite defenceman, who had another great year with more than 70 points. Definetly not a fluke or magical season.

Zubov hovered between 40 and 60 points for most of his career and that 71 point season came in a year when point production was heavily inflated across the whole league, so I have to say that I disagree with you. The 89 point season stands out a lot from his normal production.

... To a lesser extent, there's always guys like Gino Odjick, who scored 16 goals - 1/4 of his 12-year career total - in 1993-94.

And in the same season, Lyle Odelein scored 11 goals from the blue line, over 1/5 of his 16-year career total.

Odelein had 40 points as well that year (11 G - 29 A - 40) and 276 PIM.

The funny thing is : Take off two games, and he's suddenly a 8G - 24A - 32 points. Odelein had a hattrick and a 5 assists game that season.

Another player who should get mentioned here is Herb Cain 1943/44. His 82 points were not only a personal high, a league high, but also an all time high (up till that point).

Now yes, it was during the second War, but still!

Cain is the last player to date who has won a scoring title and not be inducted into the Hall Of Fame!

sorry but i'll have to nominate sergei fedorov

he never really came close to that 1993-94 regular season with the wings, 56|64 120, hart and selke, that was a pretty magical year for him

unfortunately for the wings makarov and larionov toasted him in the playoffs

a few seasons down the line he scored between 60 and 70 points a season

not every player plays on a team that allows you to coast in the regular season to save gas for the playoffs
