Not counting ELC’s:

Keith, Crawford and Kane. Kane played almost PPG with bunch of rookies - sophmore players. You could argue that Kane is not worth it but he is the leader of that team.

I don't think anyone in the league would complain about having Rakell at 3.8M for multiple more years, producing two straight 30G campaigns.

Kopitar is a top 5 salary player in the league. Last season he came in top five (#3 OA in Hart voting) in MVP consideration. So we can certainly say he earned last year's salary.

A good place
None of them (even the worst paid 20 year old makes almost ten times in one year than the average 50 year old), and all of them (they're in one of the most highly competitive and difficult jobs to get into, with thousands of vultures waiting to take their place, in a profession that virtually guarantees at least one severe injury before they retire - not even counting disfiguring facial scarring and dental destruction).
I would rip my teeth out with pliers if I could land that job.

One contract that everyone was laughing at when it was signed was Giordano’s. To this stage he has been the lynch pin of the Flames and has earned every penny and then some.

From going undrafted to playing a year in the KHL, he's a great story. Love him as captain. Also won a Muhammed Ali Humanitarian award last year for his work with the school system in the City of Calgary. Definitely has been worth the money.

Gaudreau for the next 4 years at 6.75 is pretty sweet. MacKinnon and Barkov have some nice deals too. Will definitely be interesting to see who comes in higher between Matthews or Laine.

Tyler Seguin - 5.750M
John Klingberg - 4.250M
Alexander Radulov - 6.250M
Esa Lindell - 2.200M
Radek Faksa - 2.200M

All players that exceeded their pay grade last year.

Last years injury aside Jeff Carter is well worth his $5.3 cap hit and his cash per season is $5 million, $3 million, $2 million, $2 million for the next (last) 4 years of his deal which makes him potentially valuable to lower budget teams with Cap space once the Kings youth movement starts to see results.

Nathan Mackinnon - 6.3M
Gabriel Landeskog - 5.571M
Tyson Barrie - 5.5M
Nikita Zadorov - 2.15M

I would say that Erik Johnson minus the injuries would be worth getting 6M he is a good Dman and great leader to our team but tend to get hurt when we need him the most.

Barkov (5.9M), Huberdeau (5.9M), Trocheck (4.75M), and Dadonov (4M) all deserve at least 1M more (in all but Huby at least 2M more)

Nathan Mackinnon is definitely going ot be earning his 6.3 until '22-'23

Surprisingly not a single member of the team is being overpaid right now besides Colin Wilson, who didn't even sign it with us. All other contracts are either ELCs or really good deals or fair, market value deals. No idea who's in charge of contract negotiations in Denver but recently they've been absolutely killer at it.

Honestly, everyone but Perry. I'd say Kesler too but I don't think it's fair to attack him. He was an excellent and very underrated player until he returned way too soon from surgery. His contract is too long, but he was earning it until the injury.

Not counting ELCs:

Horvat
Edler
Tanev

2 of them can't be traded fast enough for a significant portion of the Canucks fan base.

Man, it's depressing looking at our non-ELC/prospect players ...

How is Benning a good GM again? This is the roster heading into year 5 of the Benning era? Ugh ...

Phil Kessel is only a 6.2M cap hit for the Penguins right now and scored 92 points.

The best point-dollar ratio that I can think of in the league right now (excluding any ELC's)

Isn't Kessel's cap hit for the Penguins $6.8 million? I just read that earlier anyway.

His contract is $8 million and Toronto is retaining $1.2 million, I just checked to make sure. I don't know if it was somehow different last season

Ovechkin
Backstrom
Holtby
Carlson (his past contract)
Wilson
Jay Beagle
Niskanen
Orlov (low points but solid puck mover, reliable.)

Decent contracts on this team.

Yes it's only 6.8 for the pens Toronto retained and has to retain for the entire length of the contract

. The pens could retain more if they trade him
