How often do you guys see NHL players in the offseason, and how often is it when they are actually 'working out'? It seems like everytime I see these guys there either a)out partying at 5am, b) at steakhouses, or c) signing autographs.

Strangely enough, I ran into Phil Kessel at the Bellagio in Vegas yesterday. No..no..he wasn't sleeping. I was even shocked he wasnt. In typical Phil Kessel fashion though, when I yelled 'Phil Kessel!', he looked over with no emotion, nodded and said 1/2 a 'hey'. More words than I was expecting from him!

Few months ago I saw Dan Carcillo in a steakhouse in Chicago eating the biggest fudge sundae I've ever seen. Tried to get a picture, but the lighting wasn't great. But Dan's hurt...put the pounds on

Phil just likes to play card games. One of my friends saw him in Ottawa, night before a game, playing.. Doesn't mean he isn't working out during the day or anything..

it would have been awkward if you saw phil kessel sleeping would it not? you stalking him following him into his room and standing over top of him while he napped?

Unfortunately I've never seen an NHL player out in public. The closest thing to that was seeing a former Toronto FC player in a strip club in Montreal after their 2009 Canadian Championship win at like 4 am. That was a laugh.

How many players do you think work out 14+ hours/day? I doubt many are still working out past 6PM (the times you and others will see them).

The typical schedule I've heard for professional hockey players is take a couple weeks off after the season. Then get into a 5 day per week, 2 session/day workout routine averaging around 5 hrs/day.

What I am getting from your post is that you go to steakhouses and bars and parties till 5am a lot more than you go to the gym.

I have never met anyone at the summit of Mount Everest but then again I've never been there...

Most of these guys have gyms in their homes or are members of exclusive gyms.

You don't see the players working out, because you don't have access to their workout facilities. It'd be weird if you were in Vegas at a Casino and Kessel was in the corner pumping iron, no?

Im going to go ahead and assume most people here are hanging around more bars/restaurants/casinos than high performance training facilities. Might answer your question.

Brad Boyes played in an adult mens summer league last year in Oakville. I used to watch him a few times before my games

My sisters's boyfriend had a run in with Taylor Hall at Stages in Kingston, Hall was drunk and kept asking my sister to dance even though she said no, he was told to back off by her boyfriend, no fight occured and Hall went to the other side of the pub.

This was last summer BTW

Yeah, I played in the ASHL out of Oakville last summer too and always hoped I'd see him at the rink. Never did though.

Funny you bring up Hall lol, i live in Kingston and was at Stages and saw him trying to pick up a few girls, his pick up line was something like " Hey baby you know who I am, the girl laughed and said no **** off creep. So Hall turned to the next girl and tried the same thing... soooo funny. Also I have met Tie Domi when I was younger. One of my moms friends was his hair dresser. He was my favourite player until that day, he is a complete *********.

Oh, Tie Domi's daughter was getting her first communion the same day as my younger sister, so he was at the Church with his family. This was like 10 years ago maybe. Pretty weird seeing him sitting on a small pew in the crowd.

Only one little kid tried asking for his autograph, IN the Church. Domi seemed pretty annoyed.

when I worked at the LCBO last summer Derek Roy came in 3 times and each time he bought over $1000 dollars worth of Beer and Liqour for his parties at his cottage.

I saw Taylor Hall and Eberle at a country bar/club in Calgary. They started to grind on the same girl, was kinda weird.

Saw Chris Kelly at RONA a couple weeks ago. He was sitting on a bench outside with what looked like his father and they were both just mashing hotdogs. Got a good chuckle.
