Those are the parameters I have followed or thereabout. According to you Parenteau is a top of the line 1st liner? Stastny a 1st liner? Barrie a top 2nd-pairing guy? Sorry but I do not agree at all. Duchene struggled last year and had a good rebound season, but not enough to close in on Crosby or Ovechkin at all. Same for O'Reilly and Landeskog they have not proven enough yet, bump them down a little bit. You exagerated those ratings. The Avs miss the playoffs (AGAIN), may I remind you.

I don't see where I said anything about Paranteau being a top of the line top liner.

I said all top liners at PPG type levels should be 85+ no question. PA Paranteau just put up 43 pts in 48 games and was among the Top 30 in points. Same thing with Duchene. at 86 Overall that doesn't put him anywhere close to a "top of the line 1st liner" It actually puts him towards the bottom end of the 1st liners(Most of the 1st liners are in the high 88-91 range).

Once again, I am wondering how your reading skills are. I82-82 is basically a good 2nd liner, which is exactly what Stastny is.

Your overalls are terrible. Nobody is going to want to buy a game where there are 3 players(on average) on every team above an 80. That's an absolutely terrible system.

EA's ranking system as it is right now is actually very good. There are obviously some poorly ranked players such as Phaneuf(89), Kronwall(88), Gagne(86),etc. But for the most part they have player ranked very well.

I feel like your originals here were a little low in general and inconsistent with real life. For instance Justin Faulk is by far the Hurricanes best defenseman and should get a big jump. He was a 77 in last year's game.

Carolina Hurricanes -

Eric Staal - 89
Alexander Semin - 86
Jordan Staal - 84
Jeff Skinner - 84
Jiri Tlusty - 83

No offense but your ratings are bordering on terrible.

I'll do the Sens just for fun

Latendresse - 80 (I'd put him at like 82 if his footspeed were higher)
Alfie - 83
Michalek - 84
Spezza - 88 (based on last year, injuries etc etc)
Turris - 81
Silfverberg - 79
Zibanejad - 80
Greening - 79
Condra - 77
Neil - 75
Smith - 76
Kassian - 68
Pageau - 72
JOB - 71

Karlsson - 90
Methot - 81
Cowen - 80
Gonchar - 82
Phillips - 80 (EA always makes him like 84 for some reason)
Gryba - 73
Wiercioch - 76
Benoit - 70

Anderson - 86
Lehner - 81, but due to EA's backup ratings he'd probably be around 79

EA's rankings tend to not fluctuate too much between games. They also have a lot of ratings that are too high and some too low. With that said - here's my take on what EA will give the Leafs:

James Van Riemsdyk (82) - Tyler Bozak (80) - Phil Kessel (87)
Joffrey Lupul (84) - Nazem Kadri (80) - Nikolai Kulemin (80)
Clarke MacArthur (81) - Mikhail Grabovski (81) - Matt Frattin (75)
Leo Komarov (74) - Jay McClement (77) - Colton Orr (70)
Ryan Hamilton (68) - Joe Colborne (76) - Frazer McLaren (68)

Dion Phaneuf (87) - Carl Gunnarsson (82)
Cody Franson (80) - Mark Fraser (76)
Jake Gardiner (81) - John-Michael Liles (81)
Ryan O'Byrne (74) - Mike Kostka (71)

James Reimer (79)
Ben Scrivens (74)

OP's ratings suck imo.

I'll do the Sens:

Spezza - 87
Michalek - 84
Alfie - 83
Turris - 82
Conacher - 79
Latendresse - 79
Silfverberg - 78
Zibanejad - 78
Greening - 77
Smith - 77
Condra - 77
Neil - 76
Pageau - 74

Karlsson - 89
Methot - 83
Gonchar - 83
Phillips - 81
Cowen - 79
Gryba - 74
Weircioch - 75

Anderson - 86
Lehner - 80

EA is always bad at ratings, some are too damn high and some are way too low. The actual ratings probably won't be too close to mine but I think these are fair.

These are honestly pretty good. Kind surprising.

The only ones I disagree with are Grabovski and Phaneuf. Grabovski just had his worst statistical season in the league for at least 2-3 years. No way he goes up from last season. He should be an 80-81 at best.

And Phaneuf should be an 85 IMO. He's not a clear cut #1 Dman, more of a 1/2 and those guys are usually in the 84-85 range.

Other then that pretty good though.

Funny everyone talking s*** on the ratings immediately follows it up by posting there homer ratings from their crappy favorite teams that can't even make the playoffs and immediately show their true colors.. well done o.p., a few may be low but not many. (skinner, faulk)

Okay, I'll bite on the Bruins' roster...but I'm guessing one or more of our defensemen won't be there next year. Matt Bartkowski being the likely fill-in.

I've done my forward and goaltender rankings based on statistics from '10-'11, '11-'12, and '12-'13. I know some people will disagree, but I don't really care. If you think a player should be rated higher, tell him to put up better stats. The scale is mainly for BAGM based on how players progress in NHL 13 (note: Not based on original roster where all the 3-star and 3.5-star prospects displace half the league within 3 years) and offensive stats were weighted more than defensive stats. I hope NHL 14 changes things (in which case I'll need to re-do my formulae, but that's fine), but assuming things stay the same, I don't want veterans pushed out after 1 year even when we know they're still going to be NHLers 5 years from now. I won't include teams that are still playing as their statistics will change and, thus, their rating may change. I'm still working on my algorithm for defensemen.

Top 90 forward (aka top 3): 85-95 OVR
Top 180 forward (aka top 6): 82-85 OVR
Top 270 forward (aka top 9): 80-82 OVR
Top 360 forward (aka top 12): 78-80 OVR
Top 450 forward (aka borderline NHLers): 75-78 OVR
The rest (aka AHL call-ups): 70-75 OVR

I know you put a lot of work into this.. but wtf? Ribeiro 88? Smith 88? Lecavalier 87? Kadri 85? I don't see many underrated ones but you're throwing 87+ ratings around like they're nothing. I suggest you check how many people are actually about 87 in NHL 13

By the current rosters, there are 25 87+ OVR forwards and 10 87+ OVR goaltenders to start (believe me, I'm well aware of how many of what there are. I have a spreadsheet with 121,377 data points including NHL 13 ratings). If I gave a crap about how EA sets their rosters up initially, I'd lower the ratings to make it inline with how EA originally presents the rosters. Unfortunately, many people (like you) don't seem to understand how bad EA's ratings are even to their own game engine!

Since EA decided that nearly every 3-star or higher guy who is 24 years old jumps to 80+ OVR 1 year into BAGM, displacing a solid ~15% of the NHL each year for the first few years, clearly EA's rosters are flawed for BAGM. The other flaw in EA's rosters is that any player that is currently 25 years of age or older will barely progress (if they ever do) and young players, Snipers especially, often get 99s in shooting attributes once they hit 25 years of age. This leaves many veterans at a large disadvantage from a scoring perspective. Shooting, as you may be aware, makes up a large portion of a Forward's OVR rating (Wrist Shot Accuracy and Wrist Shot Power, especially), so increasing those ratings will, obviously, increase their OVR. Lastly, scoring is WAY down in NHL 13 for BAGM, so increasing the scoring capacity of the forwards is a way to increase scoring.

My ratings vs. EA's ratings
Top 90 forward: 85-95 OVR vs. 83-95 OVR
Top 180 forward: 82-85 OVR vs. 80-82 OVR
Top 270 forward: 80-82 OVR vs. 77-80 OVR
Top 360 forward: 78-80 OVR vs. 74-78 OVR

Do you not see the problem with EA's ratings here? 80 OVR is a SECOND LINER to start! Then you have about 50 3-star or higher guys go to 80 OVR or higher after 1 year! So after 1 year, your 2nd liners are now 3rd liners, your 3rd liners are now 4th liners, and over half the 4th liners are out of a job.

My ratings vs. EA's ratings (2012-2013) vs. EA's ratings (2019-2020)
Top 90 forward: 85-95 OVR vs. 83-95 OVR vs. 84-98 OVR
Top 180 forward: 82-85 OVR vs. 80-82 OVR vs. 81-84 OVR
Top 270 forward: 80-82 OVR vs. 77-80 OVR vs. 80-81 OVR
Top 360 forward: 78-80 OVR vs. 74-78 OVR vs. 78-80 OVR

Tell me, which is closer: EA's ratings or my ratings to what the game engine dictates in BAGM mode after 8 seasons? My bottom 6 ratings are nearly perfect whereas my top 6 ratings are slightly (by 1 OVR) higher than EA's 2019-2020 ratings. Meanwhile, EA's ratings are WAY OFF! An 80 OVR guy is among the top 180 forwards (2nd liner) in the latest rosters (May 2013) and yet, after 7 seasons, an 80 OVR guy is a 3rd or 4th liner!

So, you may disagree all you want, but my ratings are done for a specific reason and they're actually far better in the BAGM engine than EA's own rosters.

BTW, Smith was a Vezina finalist last year (and ALL my ratings are 100% objective; based on statistics, no bias), Lecavalier was an 87 OVR to start NHL 13 and EA dropped him to an 86 OVR (compared to my 87 OVR! The horror!), and Ribeiro has averaged 72 points per 82 games over the past 3 seasons, the 26th most in the NHL (and, if you weren't aware, offensive awareness and passing, which Ribeiro is one of the best in the league in BOTH categories, are the second and third highest weighted attributes in the game for forwards).

I have 50 87+ OVR forwards and 10 87+ OVR goaltenders (so double the number of forwards and the same amount of goaltenders). EA has 25 87+ OVR forwards and 10 87+ OVR goaltenders in their May 2013 rosters. So I have double the number of forwards and the same number of goaltenders. By 2019-2020, there are 41 87+ OVR forwards and 11 87+ OVR goaltenders. Again, who's closer?

So, yeah, I guess next time I'll just pull arbitrary numbers out of my ass ...

You're basing your numbers on BAGM? Player growth in BAGM is terribly flawed.
