They’ve also played more games than anyone else in the league, so of course they have a higher than average point total.

Their overall record is actually pretty average, and they have been blown out a few times, which explains the low goal differential

They've been simultaneously really lucky and really unlucky in a ton of different ways.

Pretty crazy stat!

Guess they've been blown out a bunch

-The Pens have already played 9 road games including 4 back to back road game series and tonight will be the 5th back to back again and 10th road game.

-Pens schedule gets easier in the future. We have played twice as many games on the road as home and 4 of our next 5 are all on the road. Toughest opening schedule in the league maybe ever. The Pens will get to play at home at some point too.

Lol to be clear this wasn't supposed to be a thread making fun of the Pens. The Pens are my second favourite team and I've hopped right on the bandwagon the past 8 years. Just thought it was a funny stat.

Getting absolutely spanked in 2 games probably has slightly skewed there goal differential. Maybe anyways who knows!

3 games. All three on the second half of a back to back on the road.

Their GF/GA differential is actually okay in the other 11 games if you remove those three blowouts that have a combined GF-to-GA of minus-21.

Kris Letang looks absolutely horrific this year. I'm really starting to wonder if injuries are catching up to this guy. Which would suck, because he's a heck of a player and athlete.

I like the line "guess they've been blown out a bunch" because it sounds like its some kind of unconfirmed theory. There are vague rumors of these blowouts, but nobody has actually seen them.

But yeah, its a crazy stat and that actually is the reason. -21 differential in those three games (as the poster above me stated)

Wow that's a great observation. It's almost like we didn't cut Niemi for being a human piece of Swiss cheese
Once again, just observed the stat. Not trying to insult Pittsburgh here, they're my cup favourite again this year. Painfully obvious this doesn't mean shit, just thought it was kinda funny.

Giving up those 24 goals over 3 games will definitely mess with the stats. It'll normalize eventually.

Getting blown out 3 times and being pretty good otherwise will do that.

Very good goal economy. Win the close games barely and when you lose, get destroyed. That way, you don't waste too many of your goals on losses.
