Attendance will probably be down overall this season but that will be attributed to moving from a 17,000+ seat arena to one that seats 9,500.

Where are those two arenas in relationship to each other? The old one must be downtown??

Right across the street. Both on the west side of downtown.

That may well be the excuse some use, I agree, but the Admirals haven't averaged over 6K since they joined the league (and only reaching 6K four times), and they've only averaged more than 9500 once since attendance records became available.

What? They've reached 6,000 several times since they joined the AHL and I'm not talking about averaging 9,500.

Last year they had crowds of

12,972
11,096
14,075
9,852
11,012
13,245
11,827

That is now impossible and will likely lower the attendance. Now maybe some of that will be mitigated by getting more weekend dates and the team will make more money by paying less rent and getting far more of the money they generate but attendance will likely be down because the capacity is only 9,500 so those 11,000-14,000 crowds are no longer possible.
