Hey - it saves me having to come up with another pithy opening ...

1 THROUGH me you pass into the city of woe:
2 Through me you pass into eternal pain:
3 Through me among the people lost for aye.

4 Justice the founder of my fabric mov'd:
5 To rear me was the task of power divine,
6 Supremest wisdom, and primeval love.

7 Before me things create were none, save things
8 Eternal, and eternal I endure.
9 All hope abandon ye who enter here.

The thread title captures my sentiments about this sad drama perfectly. Hard to stay engaged, let alone interested in this affair as it drags out interminably.

what happens if they dont extend it? and is it their sole discretion to extend by however long they wish, or does that need sign off by glendale? (i know there is no amf associated with extending the lease)

and have we figured out yet who booked justin beiber? the arena managing nhl or aeg?

I think the NHL subbed out the running of the arena to AEG. So i'm assuming AEG booked Beiber I think the NHL can extend by as much as they like but they won't necessarily get a management fee.

The gift that keeps on giving is appearing thread worn! Gj has offered nothing to enhance the visibility and/or transparency to those of us outside looking in. That is not going to change, breaking news will come from the COG and GB. Best guess! Shoot this dying dog and move forward to a new venue in a new location. The COG is slowly coming to their collective senses as they begin to realize that the city does not have the financial ability to continue to fund this entitlement debacle.

That'd be AEG Live. Their handling his North American Tour, called "Believe", opening act's Carly Rae Jepsen. Tickets sold out in like an hour. Last time he played in Glendale, decided to go for a cruise on a Segway around Westgate. Nearly (though unfortunately did not) got mauled to death by screaming hordes of Teeny Bopper's who spotted him.... anyhoo, I better stop now. Feel a stream of Beiber Jokes rising to the surface.

He loves hockey, does he not? Then people should pay for the Glendale tax increase simply by taxing anyone who listens to Justin Bieber for more than 5 seconds.

Fortunately (and also unfortunately at the same time, in a way), it would generate more money than Glendale would be know what to do with. They pay for their sales tax increase, all money left over gets donated to charity, and Bieber only loses 0.0000001% of his income. Everybody wins! (As long as Bieber loses).

... ageism. Every older generation criticizes the younger generations tastes in music, from Sinatra to Elvis, the Stones & Beatles to Glam, Punk to New Wave, Grunge to Hip Hop, Rap, Techno etc etc etc. The younger the act & its audience, the more venomous the attacks. Youd' have thunk that as the NHL has been working with AEG ever since (and actually preceding the leagues purchase with Moyes/Ellman) they took over the building, they'd be booking a whole lot more acts, filling the empty dates, showing prospective buyers that combined with Concerts & Events, there might be some value to buying the team & managing the arena after all. You need only look at a Sunrise or Nashville, whereby the ancillary event bookings prop up the team's while they re-build, mitigating losses to a large extent, though obviously even that, substantial increases in non hockey bookings might not be enough in this particular case at this juncture to even make sense anymore, and certainly not at the price Glendales being asked to pay.

No, we have no actual hockey to talk about and picking over the Coyote carcass fills the void.;)

... yep. Enough material between Beiber, Jepsen, the JIG, the Tohono's, the NHL & the COG to pretty much burn through all 40 pages of this thread within about 24 hours if we put our minds to it TL.

Coyotes Sale=Hotel California...You can check out anytime you want but you can never leave.

From the LVI:s thread:

kdb209 said:
There was a poor desert franchise, it's costs could not bear
Warm smell of bankruptcy, rising up through the air
Up ahead on the BoH board, I saw a shimmering sight
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to read through the night
There she stood in the doorway;
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself,
"This could be Heaven or this could be Hell"
Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor,
I thought I heard them say...

Welcome to the Hotel Roman Numerals
Only two more weeks (Only two more weeks)
Only two more weeks
Plenty of threads at the Hotel Roman Numerals
Any time of year (year after year)
You can find it here

More thread names are revealing,
Another season on the ice
And she said "We are all just prisoners here, of our own device"
And in the moderators' chambers,
They gathered filled with dread
They stab it with their steely knives,
But they just can't kill the thread

Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
"Relax, " said Killion,
"We are programmed to receive.
You can check-out any time you like,
But you can never leave! "

So... any chance the electorate will vote in favor of the sales tax increase?

Sale tax increases never lose on ballot initiatives..... right??? :sarcasm:
