Phoenix from Rochester via New Orleans
The Coyotes & the Super Bowl are the only thing keeping Roman Numerals from disappearing from the face of the earth.

I have a novel idea! In the last 10,000 posts, has anyone thought of moving the team to Quebec, Seattle or Las Vegas?

Oh and there's more

TRO forthcoming, reiterates going after the City for a "couple hundred million dollars" in potential damages.

"How do we negotiate our way outta being shot in the head by the city"

Here's the thing. What if they sue COG for $200 MM. Where do they play in the meantime?

And next year's Super Bowl is dropping the Roman Numerals - it's officially Super Bowl 50, not Super Bowl L .

The arena naming rights deal was between the arena manager and Gila River Indian Community's casinos.

So that's up in the air too.

Gary Bettman has gone to the wall to keep this team in Glendale. To have its city council do this during the Cup final is a pretty strong signal that they don't care. When the NHL owned the team, the end game was always about what was best for the league -- and part of that was standing by the municipalities that show commitment to building arenas, giving tax breaks etc. I'd think that now the NHL would support whatever endgame is best for Mr. Barroway.

I liken this to the difference between a symbiotic vs parasitic relationship. I think it simply was far, far too generous to the team, and utterly and completely to the detriment of the city. Furthermore, it seems that once they got the contract signed, their arrogance got the best of them, not really acting like they were taking Glendale's concerns seriously.
