On one hand, and I've gone on record with this- I appreciate Dombrowski identifying the bullpen as a major weakness and going for the overhaul. At least he correctly identified an actual problem, unlike some of the management in this city.

On the other hand, signing dudes that stink after letting your best bullpen arm walk to strengthen that weakness ain't it, Chief. Get tf with the program.

Familia and Knebel was a disgusting waste of 16 million dollars.

And the sad thing is that it was completely predictable. This team goes cheap and makes the same mistakes with the bullpen year in and year out.

100 games left - need to win at least 55 to even have a shot at the wild card...10 games over .500 for a 100 game stretch for a team that has been basically exactly .500 for 5 years running.

Don't expect any October baseball folks.

Hand was $6 million also. Relievers are so volatile year-to-year, it doesn't make sense to allocate big money there. Plus they are easier to acquire at the deadline. Compare what the Phillies spend on a pen and what the Rays spend. The Rays keep pumping out high end reliever after high end reliever.
