Flyers also gave Sam Morin a three year contract after a season ending ACL tear injury. He's had two straight seasons of playing less than 10 games since then.

That must feel so good to sign after everything that he's had to deal with. We sometimes underrate security here, but even if he may have been worth more if he had been able to keep playing this year, knowing he's got 9 mil guaranteed must be a comfort.

As far as I understand, everyone who's under contract is eligible to play, except for recently signed players from Europe (like Kaprizov).

I'll echo the sentiments of others that this is not a good deal for a good player who should provide major surplus value if he can get back to where he was before his diagnosis, but also just a fantastic story.
