I like Petry, but I don't imagine they're in a huge rush to add someone with term until they see what Karlsson does/what they can do with Stralman in terms of an extension. If Karlsson signs an extension, though, I could see this being something TB would kick around unless they have other plans for the offseason.

How long is his contract? 5.5 would be tough with our cap, but some retention and we could likely make it work.

3 more years at 5.5 I think
Eh - 12.5 to 16m in cap space next season, having to resign Point, Stralman, and Gourde if we can make it fit...

I don't think we can take that on. Even being generous that's probably 5.5 minimum for Point, 4 for Stralman, and 4 for Gourde... That eats most of our space right there. As it stands we are either going to need discounts or let Gourde walk. Don't think we can fit Petry in.

Killorn + Koekkoek for Petry? Only way we can really take on that contract is sending Killorn or Miller, Killorn is a Quebec kid so might waive to go back.

Would Tampa be interested and would it even be possible for a Petry to Tampa deal be done? habs need picks and LHD prospects?

Don't see that really working out. Tampa needs cap space so cap would have to go the other way. And who would they give up? Killorn makes no sense for Montreal (only a couple of years younger, Montreal has tons of comparable LWers), don't see Johnson being a player they'd move (or the type of player Montreal would want back) and I really don't see Montreal taking on Callahan unless the return is insane (and Tampa wouldn't do that). Tampa also doesn't really have much in the way of LHD prospects (Koekkoek is the only real name, and he's turning 25 this season).

Ya, I just don't see the fit. Miller makes a lot more sense than Killorn, but I don't see the point of that for either team to be honest.

Not to mention Vasy and Serg the following year. I still don’t think we’re going to resign Stralman, much less add another expensive defenseman on top of him.
