It boggles my mind that Pouliot is scratched. It makes me rather irate. Are they just trying to shatter him mentally. Scratched for players who are not as good and have played worse. Typical handling of the young players by staff.

While I get where your coming from, how else can you get Schultz into a game?

Its Pouilot that needs to be scratched. Everyone knows a DP and Pouliot combo cannot happen. So Cole needs to stay in.

Its not ideal, but they need to see what they have in Schultz. What if he really turns things around......he can literally take over what DP was brought in here to do, and use DP as a trade chip this summer to upgrade the LW position

I get what you're saying and it's a valid point. I just get frustrated because he has played so well. And you're right, a Schultz Pouliot pairing could turn to be disastrous. I guess I should take solace in the fact that they are playing Schultz now to see what he can do instead of with 5 games to go when pushing for a playoff spot. Hopefully it turns out well.

From where comes the notion that Cole is some defensive beast? Just because he has limited skiljs on the outlet doesnt mean hes a defensive specialist .. thats the Scuderi excuse.....I would say hes looked just as good/bad in our own zone that Pouliot has. With the difference that Pouliot carried that pairing as far as getting the puck up ice goes.

I would also play Pouliot over Daley to get a rotation going. Way to "reward" Pouliot for doing the dog work in WBS and then when he finally get back to the big club and play GOOD, letting him sit in the press box for an extended time. I was against even him sittning one game. But i can buy that one. But one game should have been it, and he should have been back in the lineup for this game.

What on earth are Pouliot thinking right about now.....

I'd be pretty thrilled if we managed to win this one. Isles always give us fits.

Only last year.

They've won the season series every year but last since 2008, they are 1-0 vs them this year.

They took them out in the 2013 playoffs as well.

In the regular season since 2008, they are 37-17 against the Isles.

Just saw it. Lame.

I'm not surprised about Schultz. I mean, why else would they have acquired him?

Also, it would be pretty stupid to waste a 3rd on a # 7.

Well. its no better to have our only legit D-prospect, who we picked 8OA over Forsberg and Trouba to ride the pine as the number 7.....

I'm sure they'll send him down if Schultz looks good after a couple of games.

Also, can't say Pouliot without out saying Forsberg!

I think sending him down would set him back. Hes been top 4 easily the last games.

Lets reward him by demoting him to riding buses for hundreds of miles for the rest of the season. Im pretty sure he wont be going into the off-season 100% motivated after getting threated like that.

If every NHL player who played more than 5 years were abducted by aliens... how would the NHL function... I mean who would they play if Veteranship were taken out of the equation?

It's not actually clear that Pouliot's better than Schultz. I'm very sympathetic to the idea that those two probably shouldn't be out there at the same time, which is why Cole is in the lineup.

It's a Pouliot/Schultz either/or, not a Pouliot/Cole either/or.

Cole's not "some defensive beast." He's actually pretty bad at defending. But Pouliot and Schultz are still more irresponsible than Cole.

Far as Pouliot in for Daley, that's pure craziness. Not only do they not play the same side, but Daley's way, way better at this point in time.

Defensive beast? No. Better suited to Pouliot or Schultz than they would be to each other? Yeah, I'd bet on that. A defensive beast compared to Schultz? Yes. 1) I wouldn't want Schultz leading to a DP spiral 2) neither should be in the defensive role on that pairing because they can bring so much offensively and especially with Schultz someone needs to be. The last thing they need is Schultz screwing up Pouliot's confidence or messing with Pouliot actually trying on defense. A Pouliot-Scultz pairing is a concern for a reason, they could try it but there's every reason to be leery of it.

Pouliot absolutely shouldn't be playing over Daley.

Play 7D, play Schultz against the weaker teams and Pouliot against the better ones, give Schultz every 3rd game, try PS in a rotation, etc.

Yeah, I've seen tons of 21 year olds have their development ruined by putting them in the AHL.

They don't have to play Pouliot and Schultz together to get them both in the game, though. Dumoulin and Daley has been a good pairing, but not so amazing that they're untouchable. And just because you put someone on the second pairing in theory doesn't mean you have to give him second pairing minutes in practice.

Also, while Hagelin is out they should just be running with 7 D. This is beyond stupid.

I agree but it has to be a tad bit frustrating for Pouliot. He played pretty well of late and then they go get a guy similar to him and sit him in consecutive games for Schultz.

I don't disagree with how Sullivan is handling it though.

They aren't going to send him down because they only have 7 healthy D. Any guy you call up probably has to pass through waivers to be sent back down once Lovejoy is healthy.

We fare okay against them record wise but the games always seem to be quite intense and when we win it usually feels sit of our pants type deal and not a we dominated type deal.

The past two years anyways. Prior to that the Isles stank and we were at our peak so we ran rough shod.

I wonder who sits when Hagelin/Fehr/Bennett return. I guess Kuhnhackl. Which is a shame. I've liked his play recently.

I thinking they rotate. Bennett will really have to show something over Wilson and Rust to get into the lineup regularly IMHO. You have to reward the success of Wilson and Rust. To cast them aside for Bennett without merit...absolutely wrong. Bennett on the 4th in place of Sheary or Sestito, sure.

Would rather see

Cullen-Crosby-Hornqvist
Kunitz-Malkin-Kessel
Kuhnhackl-Bonino-Rust
Wilson-Sundqvist-Sheary

EDIT: just remembered Sundqvist is injured

No. I in fact do not like any of those lines.

Hagelin out tonight.

Bennett and Fehr could return on Friday. (I hope they don't)

Keep Hagsy out. Him 100% for the playoffs is more important.

I don't want them to come back too early and reinjure something (for Bennett, again).

My thoughts exactly.

If every NHL player who played more than 5 years were abducted by aliens... how would the NHL function... I mean who would they play if Veteranship were taken out of the equation?

A strong case could be made that the little aliens from Moron Mountain stole Chris Kunitz's "talent" for their big game against Wayne Gretzky and the Looney Toons.

By literal definition you are correct. Assuming you meant Schultz and Pouliot, I agree.
