Things just lined up enough that I feel confident believing Madden.

I know people love to discredit Madden because he's a tool to people, but he obviously has connections. I think we saw enough evidence DB didn't like him with how his ice time was managed. Yohe and Rossi who hung from DB sack were pretty much escorting Despres out of town and writing pretty inflammatory stuff about him.

So I'm 99.9% sure their motivation was directly attributed to what DB and the coaching staff were spewing to them off record about Despres.

He's Pittsburgh's Eklund. He has connections, but he exaggerates/says enough stupid things to throw anything he says into doubt. Like you say though, it lines up pretty well.

For the record, I can understand DB calling Despres uncoachable (off the record...you don't say that stuff publicly) if he were playing outside the system. You know as well as anyone that regardless of whether you think a certain play is the right one but it falls outside the coach's system, and you repeatedly make it anyway, you're going to be in the doghouse. Even if it works.

Awesome contact. The AAV along with the term are satisfying. Despres is one of my favorite players in the organization. His size along with his skating ability makes him valuable to the team. I hope he remains in a Penguins uniform for a long time.

I am hoping that Pittsburgh aren't at the maximum of contracts before the regular season begins. There are usually some decent players that are put onto waivers near preseason. Perhaps a player that could fill a need on the fourth-line.

I'm ecstatic. I penciled him in at 1-1.2 just to be conservative so this is a solid deal. Now play the dude.

On the internets I believe it is spelled cheezburgr (probably because they were invented in the Czech Republic). But I could be mistaken.

Rumor has it that moments after signing this contract, Depres immediately drove to the Cheesecake Factory and ordered every item on their menu.

Upon leaving the Cheesecake factory, Depres was reportedly spotted in the Taco Bell drive through with a family meal and a king size order of cinnamon twists.

Do you really want to hurt me?

Do you really want to make me cry?

Yes. Yes.

I'd say Rossi is like Eklund. Zero credibility. Madden is like Garrioch... in uh many ways, but they both have some credibility.

I've thought about that long and hard and still think DB was unprofessional about the situation. I feel I've been more than fair to the guy on here when others just wanted to hate on him for breathing. However, I feel like he took things to a personal level with Despres, which was ridiculous. Then his cronies at the Trib ran a smear campaign on Despres and made **** up.

Lots of unprofessional behavior from these guys directed at essentially a kid.

And people want this guy on the roster?

If Johnston's system from Portland translates over to Pittsburgh, Simon Despres is going to fit right in. The system seems to be predicated on defensemen who can really wheel and get the puck out of danger.

what's with the dude on the main boards saying Despres is too slow to be a top-4 d-man?

I feel like the only time I'm posting on the main boards anymore these days is to defend Pens players...

It's been that way for years. When I was in college and had 5 hour breaks between classes, I'd sit in the computer lab and humor those clowns.

What's with you (or anyone else in here -- there are other gluttons for punishment) giving ounce of a ****, one rat fart... one donut sprinkle... what people on the main board (who likely never watch Despres), think about him? When will you people learn?

Tune the main board out because literally about 97% of everything written on those boards about the Penguins, is Full...

Most of those people are a bunch of group-thinking jackwads who rarely watch the Penguins, never watch our prospects and pretty much go along with everything negative ever said about the team. So get those precious minutes of your life back, stop posting / reading there, and go have a donut and cuppa in honor of Elmer.

I doubt he busts.

In what respect?

On the ice? Through his clothing?

EDIT: Exit question . . .

If Simon Despres, rather than Jim Schonfeld, had confronted Don Koharski all those years ago with 'have another donut', would the response have been (a) a league issued suspension for Despres or (b) Koharski saying 'thanks'?

Answer: It's a trick question. Despres wouldn't offer to share a donut.
