he seems like someone who doesn't give a **** about being sensitive. I think he can take it.

What about "Tim Dunkin"?

or

Elmer "Krispy" McLardass?

Seriously, his weight issues are a real problem. They probably have to retrofit his skates with extra steel inserts and then there's the issue of the ice integrity. The more I think about this signing the more worried I become. Not just talking immovable asset here but possible damage to the CEC.

If we're naming him after a coffee/doughnut shop, Tim Hortons definitely needs to be included

Wait, damaging the cursed ****ing CEC? :handclap:

He's Canadian, Tim Hortons has to be in there, or Deep fried Despres. Poor Simon... we spend half of our time making fun of his struggle.

Heard Madden say again that DB hated Despres, which is right in line with the BS the clowns at the Trib were spouting off.

I think this board rarely agrees on any one subject, but the majority of us knew something weird was going on there. I see some people happy, albeit mockingly that DB made this cheap contract possible. However, it pisses me off he wasted at least 18 months of his development.

Hopefully this new regime doesn't act this petty with any young guys because in the end when you try to **** over a talented young prospect, it just hurts your org.

Yeah I'm pretty happy DB won't be handling our young blue liners from now on. Even with Maatta, he ****ed up handling his minutes in the regular season.

It's always possible the new coaches give Despres a lot of ice and he flounders and acts stupid, thereby confirming DB attitude towards him.

However, I've never heard any of Despres prior coaches call him "uncoachable" like DB did. I'm thinking he was uncoachable because he refused to buy into a flawed puck retrieval system that had silly outlet time frames built in.

if Despres busts at this point, a lot of people are gonna look silly. Glad I won't be alone.

He should be getting regular minutes on the bottom pairing. Just keep him there and let him play through his mistakes.

If Scuds is still here in fall, let him play with Ehrhoff and hope his value will rebound enough in time to move him when Maatta returns.

I'm ecstatic that Bylsma won't be handling any of the young players now, there was way too much **** going on there.

Bylsma's bench management as a whole was pathetic. I've never seen a coach look so much like he was actively trying to ice the worst possible lineup he could with the players he had available to him.

Did he actually say that? If so, that's pretty dumb.

True, he never grasped it. Things would have made more sense if he was actively trying to ice the worst lineup, he'd be great as a tanking coach. The youth just got extra special attention.

It's ridiculous, from last season. Despres, Bylsma hated him from benching to scratching to singling him out for a bad penalty. Dumoulin was stuck on the PP when he was clearly struggling with it and in single digit NHL games. Bortuzzo was scratched for Engelland. Maatta was overplayed. Bennett was randomly benched and demoted. Megna was randomly benched. Then you have the disasters known as Orpik, Scuderi, Adams and Glass doing whatever they wanted. It was insanity.

Madden specifically said he heard DB say Despres was uncoachable. Rossi and Yohe echoed the same in interviews I've heard.

I'm sure that's probably why those two clowns were making up rumors that Despres was gone. Rossi has basically said Despres sucks, but he was so used to ball washing DB he didn't know any better.

I trust Madden about as far as I could throw him, but if a number of media personalities are saying the same there's probably something to it, and it would explain a lot.

I'm sure coaches are overheard saying a lot of uncomplementary things about players though, particularly if they're playing outside the system...whether the system's right or wrong.

Things just lined up enough that I feel confident believing Madden.

I know people love to discredit Madden because he's a tool to people, but he obviously has connections. I think we saw enough evidence DB didn't like him with how his ice time was managed. Yohe and Rossi who hung from DB sack were pretty much escorting Despres out of town and writing pretty inflammatory stuff about him.

So I'm 99.9% sure their motivation was directly attributed to what DB and the coaching staff were spewing to them off record about Despres.
