The standings have been strange. After March 5, when they beat CBJ, they were 8 back. Now, after a 1-3-1 run, they are 5 back. Obviously they aren't winning enough games to even have a chance unless they start playing better, but it's weird that they are closer now than they were before those three blowout losses, leading to all the "Pens suck Dubas sucks" talk around the league.

Who knows, maybe NYR takes Pit lightly (or PIT just has a legitimately good game) and beat Detroit who are having an even worse time of it than the Pens have had.

I thought Malkin had a pretty good game, but he is so shy to shoot right now. Sid too lately but not as bad. They had a few of those Keefe Leafs shifts where they toss it around the perimeter but never actually get a quality shot out of it - which I think are great if you have the lead but frustrating if you actually need a goal.

Sid needs to decide he wants to keep the PPG streak alive. The Pens have been excellent at teasing and then collapsing when it matters, so they will probably put up a fight until NYR scores.

Imagine if Dubas did something before the deadline. Hell, firing Reirden would have likely be enough to have a really good shot at making the playoffs. But, for whatever reason, the coaches escaped criticism, at least for now.

Pittsburghish
we can't fire the coach, because we might hire someone that doesn't know how to coach.
We can’t fire the coach because the new guy might make him look too bad and we have too much respect for Mike Sullivan than to do that. Just like asking Bryan Rust to waive his NTC.

We are surely going to win the respect cup this year.
