This was a very good game. They really skated and finally showed some agressivness, defending and on forecheck. Keep Bemstrom for shootouts. Love No.3, he is legit RD third pair maybe second pair...
L1 was really good holding the puck but somehow 2 goals against again..

If this was the game 20 games ago, I would have been a believer

They had an entire month where they played like this. Jarry screwed the pooch in a bunch of those games so it never really reflected in the standings. But for a good while there, we had a top 3 goal differential in the division and weren't that far off the top teams in the league.

Frustrating that they can beat the Canes and Rags, but lose to the BJs. They really pissed this season away with a grotesque PP. There's other issues, absolutely, but that's the biggest glowing red orb.

Almost like a .... scoring top 6 threat/winger/c ... was (has been) a priority [even with Jake here]?

Imagine if Dufus made like 2 hockey moves this year. We're very likely in a playoff spot right now. 2 moves and a new coach? Firmly in the playoffs. Gross negligence the amount of - should I say LACK OF - work that guy did once the season started.

With competent linemates and a decent PP. Sid could go ppg until 40yo or more. Dudes game isn't dependent on speed or even an insane sniping. He's just such a good passer and godly at deflections

His strength in the corners will keep him going for basically as long as he wants. There really isn’t anything to defend against it. Mcdavid would do well to try to emulate him in that aspect of the game, but its probably too late. Sid was already elite in the corners as a teenager.

O'Connor is one of those guys who looks like he gives a damn, every game, and I like that.

But I like it a LOT more in the bottom 6. Was nice not seeing him end literally every Sid play tonight... Maybe he becomes a good middle 6er but he's far from a cemented top-6 NHLer and that's been a huge reflection of this teams biggest(?) personnel issue [not enough top 6 talent].

Also, way to go Bemstrom. Always happy to see the friggin call ups pot them.

Didn’t appear to be as many one-and-dones with Smith on L1 as there usually is with Doc. Hard to say if Rust seemingly giving extra effort tonight was the reason for that though. I doubt we’ll ever get to know…

Schedule seems too brutal this month to string together the games required to get in.

But then again if they did it, that'd be crazy. And I'd enjoy it even if we got swept in the first round

But they just beat the No. 1 team in the NHL (by points, anyway) with apparently half the team sick.

This is a team capable of winning any game.

It is frustrating that the team isn’t comfortably in the playoffs. Dubas and Sully/Reirden pissed away this season.
