I can live with that. Would have preferred a flat $2m each year but could be worse.

Not bad, would have preferred 2 years but think he'll be a solid guy for the bottom pairing.

Is that a custom staggering of salary, or is that them trying to keep him tradeable in season 3 just in case?

Anyway, sounds like a decent deal to me. Welcome to Pittsburgh Matt, help us to help you win a ring.

I think he'll be an adequate #6 that is comfortable with a lot of DZ starts and heavy-ish PK minutes.

Good player, I think the term is there because JR is afraid of losing Cole after next year. He's a good player, strong skater, good puck mover and good defensively.

Never paid much attention to him, but my wife (Leafs fan) just told me she wanted him back on the Leafs, that he's a pretty good player. She usually hates everyone, so that's a good sign.

Leafs fans used to rag on this guy all the time, but whenever I watched the Leafs (which was a lot because I live in the TO area and their games are on all the time) I thought he was solid. Decent at moving the puck, decent skater, solid positionally. Basically just a solid guy to have on your bottom pairing.
