Does basically everything Tanev did, but cheaper. Tougher, throws his body around.

LW with Geno and Kap may be something good. Imo. He plays the 3rd wheel on lines pretty well.

Yeah, I could see him really overachieving in a 2nd line role here.

Guentzel Zucker McGinn is some nice LW depth.

I think McGinn should definitely play with Malkin if Zucker is still here.

Zucker and Carter were very good. That would be a good 3rd line.

After this signing I really like what Hextall did in the expansion draft. Got an asset for McCann, who was likely being picked. Then got a cheaper Tanev. Very nice.

The Penguins traded McCann and Tanev for McGinn, Rodrigues, Hallander and $3 million in cap space.

Can't see a single reason to criticize the team based on how this progressed.

I need to find the guy who kept yelling at me to say that Hextall was "blind-sided" by Tanev being picked. Because GMs are blind-sided by something they know can happen.
